back at the hotel at dark, could hear a concert across street listened for a little while

robin went to do laundry and I walked back to town

I walked to the end of town then on the way back I thought I heard a blues lick coming out of a bar stopped in

    they were going on break

so I had a beer and waited, when they got back turned out to be a jazz band

    yelp I was outta there

walking back I almost got hit on by a blonde gal

& by hit on i mean she almost ran over me :lol3

    stopped off at the keg

then almost back to room, I thought concert still going

no, wait that sounds like a drum circle

who can turn down a drum circle

    I walked down

Friday, up packed, showered, stuff threw into the mighty dodge we're about to be on 2 wheels :clap:rayof:wings:happay

skipped the stale pastery breakfast :rilla

robin was thinking these folks knew how to pack their luggage for motorsckile trip

    yelp that's right

we rolled into Colorado springs with time to kill

so we walked into mother muffs for breakfast

sat down beside a guy at 8:20 in the morning drinking a tall pbr with a jamerson shooter

    (I shouldn't say anything I had a bloody mary)

while we ordered a guy sat down on the other side of us ordered a Budweiser with a shot of jack daniels

bartender gave him his drink and said anything else & the guy said yea another Budweiser and shot of crown

    I said dude your serious

his buddy walked in shortly to claim the other drink :lol3

    now this is a breakfast

they were asking us what we were up to

I said fixing to pick up our scooter ride up old stage road to gold camp rd then to phantom canyon

"your gonna ride your motorcycle up old stage road"

yelp ( I felt a lot more confident right then, then I would later)

they started telling me once we got to gold camp it would be a good gravel rd & phantom canyon was a even better dirt road

but they still wouldn't ride their bikes on it

then I mentioned skyline road, one dude was like I wouldn't even go on it in a truck :lol3

"it's a drop off on both sides "

robin was giving me the stink eye, I still felt confident

they started talking about seeing long horn sheep, mt goats & all kinds of animals up there

she's was buying into a little more

back at Matts he'd gotten most of the service done except front forks and told me I needed some throttle cables

we proceeded to overload the old gal

Matt was getting ready for a weekend trip on his trusty /5

ya know I have special place in my heart for these

he'd bought this one brand new when he came back from Vietnam

    433, 000 miles on her

dropped the truck off, with a full tank and a overloaded bike away we went

kept stopping to adjust the carbs, till I figured out it was the cables matt had told me about

they were sticking and reving up to much at lights

some times I could jerk on em and they'd settle down, sometimes not

to the Broadmoor hotel, at the round about they had some fancy landscaping that 4 deer were enjoying

behind the hotel, past the golf course, up Cheyanne mt

it got steep, in one of the switchbacks I gassed it to much and the front tire came off the ground, a little heavy in the back :lol3

we came to where the pavement ended a guy on a klr was sitting in the turn

I was looking if the road went left or right

it was in a switch back and everything that had washed down the dirt part was right in that curb

when I started right the front wheel washed like it was on ice :muutt

I jumped off and helped robin up, made sure I got the picture before I turned it off

because im a dumbass like that some times :jerko

as blue smoke surrounded us I turned it off

our new friend riley on the klr helped stand it back up

riley looked it over at the fairing, the load, the tires and said what is that thing :lol3

    wouldn't start, blowing blue smoke

    riley said it's vapor locked

    huh?

I hit the starter again & it made a bad noise

Riley said and there goes your starter

Glad he was there because I didn't have a clue, he told me to pull the plug when I did

you could hear it go pzzzzzzz

several different trys, he suggested pulling the plug rolling it down the hill and let the oil puff out the spark plug hole till it freed up

    worked like a charm

rolled it off he said don't turn it off

as I pointed back up old stage road

    robin said oh hell no

I said riley said this is the worst part

    robin said oh hell no

    I thought about it

I could have left her right there

but out of the two of us, she was the only one that brought any pussy

    so she won :(

back down the hill we went

puffing blue smoke, Rilley followed us back to town, past the broadmoor

At a stop light he said smoke was clearing up

robin kept checking to, it was getting better, cable still sticking

as we got into town riley headed his way

if anybody knows him I owe him

    he works at the airport

    good guy

after we split, it died at a light,:baldy we pushed it across the road to a parking lot

robin said now what, I said i'm thinking:hmmmmm

she said why don't u get us a truck, im tired of pushing it

    ok ok she won again

I checked my phone a enterprise was 1. something miles away

then I remembered the commercial that says they'll pick u up

called em sure enough they showed up in a bout 30 minutes

I told the dude we were putting the bike in the back, he'd just started and said I don't know about that

before it was over he was helping me load it

backed the truck right up to that wall robins' sitting on, didn't have to pickit up but about a foot

loaded up, heading back to the rental store, kids laughing and says thats the biggest think i've ever put in a truck

    another good guy

called matt, and went by his house, knew he was gone but had to check

a late lunch back at mother muffs, the guy that was drinking pbr that morning was on the other side of the bar going strong

a guy we'd talked to at a shop the day before was there we had a good time

trying to find a room, a guy at the garden of the gods motel, turned us onto his buddy that ran the travlers downtown

    complete with a Harley room

he called the guy, we were on the way

    into town

we checked out the Harley room and he said do you want to see the jungle room?

    it's our most popular, ok

he opened the door and robin said we'll take it

    we hung out

sent matt a email, told him about starter and vapor locking & hoped I could drop it off at his place and go

called eagle rider and booked a bike for the next 7 days, I was needing to use those credits anyway

right before dark we rode all over looking for something different to eat,
    [IMG]

that humpity dumbity dude was everywhere

ate at the east coast deli

back at the jungle room we called it a night,

fell a sleep replanning our route

Saturday morning I rolled out a bed with plan

take the bike back to storage in Denver, figure out fixing it for next year

    pick up the rental bike

drive back to Colorado springs and drop off truck, because to drop it off in Denver they wanted to charge another 150$

ok lets pack up and go

    wait....……………..

Matt had sent us a email said sure drop it off, & told us how to get in

(which was a good thing because the neighbors were all over us when we went by there, wrong neighborhood to be a bad guy :thumb)

    ok now what to do

    first breakfast

    go ahead cw

we made it to the king chef near the hotel in "the springs" (thats what the locals call it)

it was a really good breakfast from her and me if your ever in the area

by a good will because we'd left robins carry on at the last hotel because it won't fit on the bike

man the goodwill near the hotel had everything from deer heads to mops but no luggage

near matts they had a cheap carry on

we dropped the bike, locked everything back up

headed outta town, at a stop light we watched a old ball pedal skate board go by

i thought that might be cool

    maybe not

as we rolled up 25 our truck with bike in the back that makes us a convoy, right?

    here we go

man I was plotting do I want a spend another 150$ to leave the truck in Denver or miss a hour and half to ride back down to the springs

    when we could be riding

    :hmmmmm:confused:scratch:confused:scratch:hmmmmm:dunno

    debate debate

as we dodged in and out of traffic

and looked at south bound traffic stuck in construction bumper to bumper

the decision was made, F that

we rolled into mile high Harley davison auroa

I walked over to the eagle rider return

looked like a bunch of swiss s ?? headed out

    back to desk inside

    hooked up and waited

they had a taco in a bag

    ya ever heard of that?

doritto chip bag, ya crushed the chips then dumped all the good stuff in the bag

& stuck a fork in it

i'm not sure who thought of this

    but that shit was good

wondered around and admired the himalaya's

actually would like to ride one

they had some cool old stuff up in the bleachers

talked to a guy who had rented a bike 4 years in a row

had done from Denver to cal all 4 years, should have asked him long he took

but I was to busy asking what roads were good and not so much

they put us on a bike, smacked us on the ass and sent us on our way

it took longer than I hoped but they had a lot of folks there waiting on a bike

this was the newest Harley I had rode and the gps still sux

robin followed me to the storage building

we dumped off a bunch of stuff

some of the new vents robin played with, reminded me of the first time i'd saw a power window

    damn how old am i

    :gerg

with our load lighten and sorta brand new bike

we headed back to the airport

i actually parked in lot i was supposed to

robin came over to me and said

    "he dropped the charge"

    how'd she do that :dunno

    awesome

As for getting a charge waived.
She might only have needed to mention just a bit about travelling with ya.

That should bring sympathy from even the most hardened soul. :arg
