So what's the distinction between the Regional and Upcoming Events forums?

If I plan a ride to Bakersfield, that's both an Upcoming Event and a Regional Event, right?

Phuket....I'll just post in Jo Momma and y'all can twist :heh:

    good question.

the way I understand it from cRAsH and boyscout is if you are trying to get some local riders out for a jaunt to say Alice's, put it in the regional. or if it's specific to Ozzie land, etc

if it's a rally or a big event that other's may be interested in throw it in the Upcoming Events.

I agree that the distinction is a bit fuzzy but I'd say Freak's right. Single day events and questions or comments about specific locals go in the Regional forum. Larger events which might attract people from all over would go in Upcoming events.

It's a bit like the overlap between GSSpot and Equipment.

Thanks, that will save me some time. I was planning on moving all your posts there anyway with my new moderatorial powers. :evil

    Much better idea:

Start a new 'Fishmeister' forum, so we don't have to search every single forum for his pearls of wisdom, wry humour & outright bullshit...... :evil

    ...just a thought:1drink

instead of the calling it Regional Forums which seems to be confusing to Fish, :lol1 Baldy could rename it to something like Meet and Ride which will be closer to what it really is about. :ear

or Regional Day Tripping or Day Trippers or something along that line

I hope it will be about more than that. We could meet and drink, meet and smoke.... :smile6

Seriously, I see the regional forum as a good place to post road conditions, shop or restaurant reviews, driving directions, basically anything that is only of interest to a geographically selected minority of the ADVRider membership. :huh

I wouldn't mind seeing it titled "Regional Stuff" or "Locals Only" or ...

"Meet and Ride" just sounds too Mr Roger's Neighborhoodish to me.

    Humm,
well if your gona have regional forums then ...

you should hava a Forum for

    Europe
    North America

    etc
rather than wade through each post looking for the area your interested in? :scratch

-- And you could then reduce the size of the regions into ones that make geographic sense for the ride conditions?

I'd rather see the OZ stuff go on

    Rallies
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OZ_Motorcycle_Rallies/

    Adventure rides

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/oz_adventure_riders/
    or
    http://www.users.bigpond.com/rto/ozhome.htm

rather than duplicate the work going on in those groups?
( a few more ozies on these groups than here)

Ok, It must be just me! I don't fuck'n care what forum anything is in. Everything ends up in Jo Mamma anyway. :smile6

Sheese, if it's of interest I read on, if not I move on.

I think the mid east issue might easer to solve.

    I'm tired now...time for a nap, a regional nap.

That's the key, I think......if posts are interesting, people will read them...........won't they? Regardless of where they are posted.

If posts are clearly labelled 'Europe', 'Oz', SoCal etc.......(& Scotland).....then the amount of 'searching' in the regional forum will be minimised, I think.

I guess if the amount of traffic/posts increases dramaticaly on this one forum, then individual forums might be needed for geographic areas, but I don't see that applies just now........?

    Anyway, it's 0730 here in Edinburgh........sun is shining & I'll be on the road in 10 minutes.......have a nice day!:smile6
