'07 KTM 990 A 28,000 mi. Remus 2 to 1 Stainless Pipe CPR air filter kit with red prefilter. SAS off, Canister gone. O2's on TPS set TB's balanced I installed this '08 Akra map from the TuneECU library. KM601AK0702S01Map.hex OEM md5checksum KTM990 Thanks Nils After 8,000 miles, most of which was in Mexico, riding every road type from the fabulous Ruta 16 from Hermosillo to Creel to blasting two up on the Auto Pistas at 160 km/hr, the bike is as close to perfect as any bike I've ridden. The throttle response is as good as any carbed bike I've ridden, an absolute must on the twisty bits. Power wise, it's there, across the RPM range. Most riding was two up fully loaded for touring. Twist it, Max
Got mine on last night! Thank goodness for 60 degree January days in Ohio! Thanks for the pics Hondo, they helped when I was trying to figure out how the clamp mounted! It sounds good and seems well behaved. Come on spring! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
Thanks Hondo for the great post! I used it for my install this week and it went much smoother than it would have without the reference. MAN ARE THOSE STOCK CANS HEAVY!!! Note: on one of the threads people were discussing removal of the lower subframe bolts to remove the pipe but if you take the cans off first that isn't necessary. Also, mine shipped without the spark arrestor so I contacted Remus and they are shipping it to me free of charge...that said, the standard insert is LOUD!!! Louder than any pipe I've owned in fact and it sounds GREAT on the street but it's waaaaaay too loud for trails. Hopefully the new insert will kill some DB's. Regardless, it's an awesome product and I highly recommend it to anyone on the fence.
Just put in the spark arrestor insert - and it is much quieter with less back firing/bark on throttle closure. Pretty amazing consider it is the same length, just .2 inch smaller ID (1.100 vs 1.300).
Don't forget to disable the SAS or you will burn out the silencing wadding as it will get too hot, my mate didn't do it and has had to re-pack his were mine with more miles on it is fine.
Within TuneECU, have you noticed it getting noisier? although it's a gradual process you might not notice.
Can a dealer do it for me? What does TuneECU cost? Can I run it on a Mac? What's the function of the SAS and why is it obselete once you change your pipe? Will the standard baffle burn out the packing? Sorry for any stupid questions.
I remember reading somewhere that turning off the SAS without removing it can cause leaks. So I'm assuming either deal with removing it or deal with repacking.
Yes a dealer can, TuneECU is a free program, no I think it only runs on windows, The SAS allows air into the exhaust system up stream of the exhaust valve to clean up the burn and increase the temperature within the exhaust to heat the cats up quicker, don't know what you mean by the last question.
I don't believe that the Remus Roxx has packing as we know it. It is more like a car muffler that has a series of metal baffles that move the exhaust around and quiet it down. At least that's what I recall the Remus guy tell me on the phone when the system just came out.
I was under the same impression as Henry and all I see is a perforated core when I look down my pipe.
