Puerto Libertad is only 220kms from Rocky Point. That's just a gas stop for me. I continued to Kino then up to Punta Chueca, back to Kino, passed through Hermosillo and stopped in Banamichi to overnight. Still got in way before dark.

If you're still in Kino make sure to ride to Punta Cheuca. Nice paved road with an incredible view of Tiburon Island on the way.

How is the dirt road north out of Kino to Puerto Libertad? it doesn't look like the turn off south of Puerto Libertad has seen much traffic the last couple of times I have been past it.

I have mapped out as much offroad as possible form Puerto P. to Kino, I would love to run some of the maps by guys who are more familiar with the area... PM me.. We have a group planning to head down in April.

I was reading through this thread and trying to get some info on a trip down the Sonoran coast like yours mentioned. I am planning on going in October on a ktm 690 and and a friend on his crf450L. Any advice you could give me would be so much appreciated. Could you pm or reply me and we could discuss some details of your trip so I can get a better idea of what to expect? We are leaving from Puerto Penasco and going to Guaymas via the coastal dirt roads. Thanks!!

Heading down to San Carlos this week from Tucson. Will then follow the coast north, maybe into Baja. Any route or sight suggestions would be welcome. Is wild camping available in the area?
