Today we headed south in the Park. There are three separate waterfalls: Upper, Middle and Lower. You can walk down to the Lower falls. From there you can drive up to another parking lot where you can walk to the Upper and Middle Falls.

    Lower and the walkway:

We headed to the south end of the Park today. There is a Museum and other items to view. We ended up turning around before we finished to head back to Geneseo where we met one of my former co-workers for lunch. It was nice catching up with Hugh and it reinforced that we chose the right time to retire.

After lunch we headed back to the south end of the park to pick up where we left off. We went to the museum that had been started by Lethworth the creator of the park. Lots of interesting artifacts.

Done at the museum we headed back to camp. It was an interesting evening. A storm was inbound. One of the rangers stopped by to make sure we were staked down as heavy rain and wind was inbound. We got busy securing the tent. We also took our tarp and covered the picnic table where the rest of our gear was. I staked down the tarp and we waited.

The rain started and we headed to the tent. But it was hot inside so I opted to put on my rain coat and went back out. I also had an umbrella that I grabbed. The sky opened up and the rain came down in sheets. Fortunately, the wind did not come. Unfortunately, we had set the tent up in a bad spot as a lot of water was running towards and under the tent. Patti said it felt like a waterbed. I used a small shovel and trenched around the tent which got the water moving away from the tent.

The storm lasted an hour or so. Again, thankfully there was no wind. The items under the tarp stayed dry. There was mud and puddles all around our site. The only thing to do was to put on flip flops and just walk through it. We had to dry our feet before we got back into the tent when we finally went to bed.

8/28/2020 Letchworth State Park to Albany, NY.

We had to pack up the camp wet today. That sucks. As we emptied the tent we saw that water had leached up. Fortunately, our Exped Sleeping Pad kept us and our sleeping bags above the water. The bottom of the pads were wet but that’s it.

I rolled and stuffed everything in our Wolfman bad knowing that we would have to pull it all back out and hang it all out to dry. We smashed it all it and barely got the top rolled down. With the bikes loaded we were off.

This was another slab day. We wanted to make time getting to Albany where we had reservations at a Hampton Inn. Much needed after 4 nights in a tent, two of which it rained.

We made it to Albany in a few hours. The last few miles were the most stressful as we transitioned from Route 90 to Route 87. There are many merges going on and everyone was in a hurry. No close calls. We just needed to keep our heads swiveling.

We arrive at the hotel when after we checked in, we deposited pounds of grime in the shower. We made sure to rinse the bottom of the tub so it wasn’t all black.

That evening we were lucky enough to meet up with Patti sister Judy and Judy’s husband Bob for dinner. They chose a BBQ joint right next to the hotel which was great for us. It was fantastic catching up with people that are close to us after not having that for the duration of our trip.

After a nice meal and a couple of drinks we called it a night. Thanks Judy and Bob for dinner! See you next Saturday.

We booked ourselves into a Hilton Home 2 Suites. We wanted to spend a week in isolation before we met up with Patti’s family in Hyannis Port for our annual get together.

It was a quick 3-hour slab to Walpole. We checked in and we began our bomb of the room.

Really enjoyed following along. I'd never even HEARD of Letchworth State Park. Looks like an amazing place to visit.

I have to say, my Google Map has plenty of "Saved" places in the south and N. East, but you've helped me fill in a few 'must sees' in the middle and western states in north US. I also really appreciate your sharing your expenses with us. That's one question I have for just about ever ride report I read and it's nice to have a detailed answer.

    All the best, David

A Mac Book Air. It gets sandwiched between our rain gear in a side case. It is in a nylon sleeve with all our charging stuff.

When we were in Mexico it went on top of one of the Wolfman Bags. Note we are not doing off road so there isn’t much jostling.

I just want to add my thanks to the above posts. Excellent photos of places I will probably never visit. I look forward to your trip back to Yucatan to bring home the stranded BMWs.

Found this the other day. Enjoyed reading and following along. I’ll have to find the RR from Mexico. It’s not easy putting together a RR, and really a challenge from the road. Excellent trip and report.
