    Hi folks,

    After some help identifying what I think is a micro metisse. I'm cleaning it up in prep for when racing resumes here in Queensland. It has a TM125 engine

    The following is stamped on the headstock, left hand side;
    MFD BY RICKMAN
    5-70.238Z2

    From reading through this thread, seems it originally had a Zundap engine and was made in 1970, the rest is a mystery.

    Can anyone shed light on the serial number?

    Cheers
    Peter

    Making slooooow.... progress on this build but thought I'd share:

    Not going to run a fairing and am going to run upright bars (no clip-ons). Old enough and my back is medically challenged enough that I need to sit upright.

    Be safe, ride safe.

    The serial numbers and production dates identified in the Rickman book are sometimes easy and other times requires a little interpretation. Your serial number fits into the category identified as L175 through L304, qty 130, date 3-1970, Zundapp MX, Steens USA, the Z2 is not mentioned. I don't know why the book has an "L", the 3-1970 was probably order date. Just for the fun of it here is a little more; I had a 1970 Rickman Zundapp, these came with Ceriani suspension front and back, magnesium big bike hubs (slight almost undetectable difference on rear), Magura ISDE levers. Many changes occurred over the next four years including change to Betor, aluminum hubs, loss of ISDE levers, frame changes, updated Zundapp engine, etc. Unfortunately, the early ones were prone to frame breakage; some say head steadies helps to prevent breakage, that came to late for mine. if you look back several posts you will see a broken frame typical and in the same place mine broke. I still have everything from mine except the frame that was junked and the magnesium hubs that went to Australia seven or eight years ago.

    Thanks for the info Garry, all good fun.

    once I get the silver paint off the frame, I’ll be sure the check the condition of the headstock welds for potential issues

    I cannot seem to post videos with the expertise Wildebeest demonstrates. So, I will just have to say my comment on this can be found with a Google search for: Daffy Duck - Mine, mine, mine! - You Tube

    I love Daffy. Yeah, it is sometimes good to abandon tradition and do something that is in-your-face. I hoped the Buell would end up like that, but maybe you should start with something wilder like a CBX in a Spondon frame (we have one in our group here, send chills up your spine). I like most of the Vetter and Tracy stuff that is swoopy without getting weird. That Tracy (The Fiberglass Works) body on Don Castro's flattracker that was banned for being streamlined, I think now owned by Donzilla is my favorite, not to mention the psych paint work. I have some Fiberglass Works stuff and looking for more particularly the swoopy one piece body I can build around a T150. Unless, and it won't happen in the States that a Rickman chassis fell in my lap.

    On ebay now. Unusual BSA twin. Looks to be in good order stem to stern. The Rickman Metisse and Avon graphics are desperately needed for the detail. s-l1600.jpg
