Thanks Kyle. I am really glad that the ralley is so close to home. Watauga Lake is a georgous area and I am looking forward to showing everyone the great riding that we have. The timing is also perfect for the grand opening for the Doe Mountain OHV area that is planned to open this spring. They are hoping to develope an area that draws riders from miles around, like the Hatfield & McCoy area does. Today I rode there and met some folks with the Mountain Trail Riders Association (MTRA) whose member volunteers have been clearing the miles & miles of single track. They plan to eventually have 125 miles of trails. I told them about our ralley and they were excited to have such a large group of us from ADVrider discover the riding at Doe Mountain. I am also looking forward to going out on some scouting rides.
IN - for a tent site or rustic cabin to share - it's hard to tell what the lay of the land is - showers and most important, the location of party central
In, Maybe a little Hopefully no I'll ride sweep or relay for whoever needs a sweep or relay rider. See you FFers there.
Yeah, Laurel Falls is only a few miles away from that place on the Appalachian Trail. The bank is pretty steep so if it floods the banks we've got major damn issues. Really pretty up through there though. This is going to be fun.
THURSDAY TUNE-UP RIDE At Buffalo Mountain ATV Trail Scout ride report here. Not to early, let's leave at 10:00. We can stop in Erwin an top off with gas and get snacks. Bring plenty of water, lunch etc. There is nothing out there. Also bring $5.00 to feed the fee box. This is a 13 mile out an back trail so even I shouldn't get lost. More rides and standard ride rules here.
Gonna scout ride today. If anyone wants to ride along send me a pm. I will not get going until around 10 or 1030. I can meet in Hampton or Erwin around 11:00. I will check my pms before I leave.
the campground and party central are up a short driveway: private, no flooding and a big indoor area... we have the whole resort (with exception of the hiker hostel) and tents/hammocks can go anywhere. I do want to keep the main camping area free of cars, so car and trailer parking may be a bit tight on the bottom field (small area).... but I'm sure we'll find space near the beer for area 51 There are RV spaces, bunk cabins for about 40 people, and misc rooms and apartments. One of the houses will be blocked of for Candy and the rest of the Kiehna Clan, and the bigger apartment will be for couples to maximize the bed space. I know the amount of beds is not perfect but the resort itself and the riding will make up for it.

When can we start booking?
