Been using this sealant for a few years, never put it to the test before today. Picked up a big cable staple in my rear Pilot Road 4. Have plugs, pump etc and so Put it up on center stand and just got to pulling it. Air started out Immediately and the white tacky Sealant. Which frankly I forgot I had installed. So jumped on and rode for 2 mins. Completely plugged, no bubbles when water applied. Rode home happy. Will keep an eye on it but pretty much as advertised. Balances the tire too! The offending staple. Went all the way in. So two good sized holes.
Lost 1 lb of pressure. I know this because I checked pressure before yesterday’s ride. Pretty cool. Way beyond the Slime crap I tried some years back.
So .. off the bike for 4 hours. Thought I’d try a test. I have a compressor... tires are now cold. Let’s inflate to 45. Still holding. 40 mins later. Still45. Impressive.
Site says both tubed and tubeless. May not be compatible with all TPMS systems. https://www.ride-on.com/us/support/tpms
Yup. I suspect the staple tore the tire a fair bit as I look. Unlikely I can plug, maybe patch. Still it got me home ... Time for a new tire. Too bad. Great tire. Sorry to waste your time.
I think I saw some bold braggadocio that this muck could deal with 1/4 holes? "A combination of fibers - including aramid fibers, six times stronger than steel - automatically seal punctures in the tire tread caused by objects up to 6.4 millimeters (1/4") in diameter." Hmmm, thanks for the report.
