It was a dark and stormy night.....Actually it started a year ago. Buddy Terry was leaving Anchorage with a box van and it wasn't quite full. Just enough room for my 02 1150GS so in it went. The bike rested in Yamhill, Oregon for a year and was replaced by a 2010 1200GS (30 year thing) in Alaska. Well it has taken me a year to get down here and have a chance to ride. Of course after a year of sitting in Terry's shop it needed a new battery, fresh gas and the injectors cleaned. The plan all along has been to get the bike to Tucson where Deb and I plan to start spending more time-Translation-Get away from winter. Anyway.....Tomorrow morining the solo trip to AZ begins. No plans, just point it south and see what happens.

I never do ride reports so don't expect much. I seldom take photos and never post the few I do take. So if you want an exciting well written ride report complete with grand photos, you best be here in the morning to ride along and take care of the scribe duties.

    More to come.

Well the ride is over. Left Yamhill Oregon monday morning, Three days later the bike was in the garage in Tucson. So the long and the short of the ride........Rain and Wind. After no rain all over the west I ran right into the first major storm of the season. In fact I-10 in Arizona outside Tucson was high and dry for months until I hit town. Not much else to report. Took it easy, riding solo. Put in 500 miles days and enjoyed the cross winds in the desert.

Thats all the news thats fit to report.

I did a very brief ride report from our outstanding ride today. Boy - the weather was sure better than I hoped for and the group who came out for the ride were great. ADVBMR joined us part way, he had to turn around at Turnagain Pass. Full Power rode all the way from Homer to meet up with us. I enjoyed meeting you Full Power! And Justin Consistent - your friends were nice too. I don't know how to spell your GF's name.

Here's a trip report of this year's traditional ride on the Dalton Highway over Memorial Day Weekend. Thanks to JustInconsistent for also heading up there to keep the tradition consistent. We rode separately, but he stopped by to visit me a couple times and provided a grim report of conditions in Atigun Pass, saving me a ride up there.

i DONT HAVE A PIC OF THE PLACE BUT i REFUSED TO PAY $200 PER NIGHT.....I camped out in the rain for 2 days waiting for good weather and found a cheap bed for $20 stayed there one night up and one night back down.(damn caps).....at Coldfoot.

About 17 miles north on the Dalton Hyw above Coldfoot, you will see a sign for Wiseman. Drive down the dirt road and you will find the first set of houses. CLUTCH is an old talkative dude who has an ice tent with dirt floor and basic army cot for $20, two per tent...huge tent.

He has nice log rooms for $100 per person. Go another 2 min down the road in Wiseman and find a lady at the General Store, that looks like a front desk selling perishables, and she rents B&B with hot showers. Not sure of the price but remember way cheaper than $200 rip off at Coldfoot, on the Dalton Hwy!

Cee and Dave go to the 2018 International Norton Owners Association Tall Timber rally in Elma Wa. As a "curator" of a couple Nortons I like going to club rally's but they are usually a long way from Alaska. This one was held in Washington, sort of next door, and a motorcycle "party" seemed a good reason for a ride; like D2D is a good reason for a ride...
