Sad, I didn't get there in 09 at all. We've got a plan to show up second half of March some time.
    You in AZ?

We are in AZ now. The wife and I just have our road bikes down here. The KLR is in Alaska. We spent a few days there last year and "may":dunno do a trip there this winter. Thinking of going to Joshua Tree too. We are flying home March 20th.

Damnit. This Hokey Dokey BS may put a crimp in our AK ride plan. GF & I are getting offa the ferry at Haines on 6/21. At least we'll have a good head start on this circus.

If it looks like it'll ackshually happen, mebbe we'll head for Homer straightaway. In that case we'll prolly get in ~6/24 for a peaceful nite or 2.

Hopefully they'll still be far away then. Even better if someone pushes the big CANCEL/FUGHETABOUTIT/NFW button. :evil :D

Is this back on? It appears the Annual State Hog event is going to be June 13,14 and 15 and is centered in the Kenai Area.

They are on their way up!

Tonight's news said 500 riders left FL today on their way to Homer. They're expected to start arriving around July 4th.

I usually go to Seward for the 4th. Man, the highway may be even MORE crowded this year!

Good luck to all, Mark H.

The report is that 7 of them went down before reaching the mainland. A rider from Cooper Landing broke his leg. With a start of only 500 it will be interesting to if any make it.

Here is Wildmans tracking blog with the most current information I can find, they say it will be updated as things change. I can't seem to find any updates as the race progresses, I understand there are 14 Alaskans in this would like to follow it.

Latest from his wife's blog is that the leg isn't broken, he just received lacerations. Last I read (haven't checked it this morning) they were trying to locate his bike to see if it was still rideable so he could continue the ride.

There was another Alaskan Charles Marble injured in another accident about the same time as Wildman. Both Alaskans were released from the Hospital.

Wildman's daughter is my next door neighbor in Cooper Landing. She emailed me that he is ok with a lot of road rash and a cut. He is staying with friends who as luck would have it have medical backgrounds so he is being well cared for. Should be fine in a couple of weeks.

If the organizers speculated on gold to fund the prize, I hope they sold high! :freaky

If anyone is interested in a little SIDE bet, I will wager fifty federal reserve notes that there will NOT be 400 ounces of metallic GOLD anywhere near the finish line of this farce.

Next thing - you'll be betting that the organizers walk away with the biggest winnings. What a skeptic! What a cynic! What a pessimist! :ddog

    What a fiasco! :nod

Chris Carr's site, Two Wheel Adventures.com; Hoka Hey Challenge.
I have been trying to get some info on the ride, besides the Official "Hoka"
site on facebook. Chris has a FB site also. For any ADV'er who wants to
    read on the progress.
