If it's "OH SHIT!!" you want , then Hwy 5 south of San Flippy in the Laguna Percebu area are the famous OH SHIT DIPS which are basically vados (where a stream crosses over a road). Nice straight section of road and they sneek up on you every time!

Hit one of these puppies at about 70mph and you will get launched! And yes, I have!

Seen a few of those "DIPs" myself on an old Nighthawk in the 80's, wow. Been down to rocky point a few times back then as well. Been thinking of a return trip down there and hit up ole' "JJ's Cantina" if it's still there. :{)

JJ's is still here. Not that I ever go there. OD's has it going on in my opinion, and for the more risque PK2 is a lot of fun.

wow, too funny. The last time i was down there in Rocky Point/JJ's was about '89-90... I used to have a t-shirt from JJ's for years afterwards that said "No Sniveling" lol.

Thanks so much. Things have changed a bit with me selling my trailer. I still hope to be going with my friends but need to buy another bike, possibly a KLR or another VStrom that I can load in the back of my pickup.

I'm thinking that my Baja ride is not happening with the latest lock downs in California and elsewhere. Baja was scheduled for limited opening in Nov but probably not now. My good friend and neighbor, who now lives and works in La Cruz, Mexico just north of Puerta Vallarta, said he can probably cross the border into the US to take care of his sailboat in Washington but might not be able to get back in to Mexico so is staying put. I believe that Baja has different entry rules but.......

EVERYTHING in Mexico is always fluid and should be expected to change at the drop of a hat without rhyme or reason. You could do something at one crossing while others would not allow the same. It’s one of those things that makes traveling to Mexico an adventure every time you go.

Well, it appears that the Baja ride is a no-go with the US and Mexico just affirming a closed boarder agreement allowing essential travel only, i.e., necessary business and commerce. Maybe we'll have a chance before it gets too warm there.

Interesting, I had a bunch of friends in Baja last week (from 11-18 through 11-22) for the Baja 1000. When I say a bunch of friends, I'm talking about at least a dozen different guys on 4 different teams, and one who works the start line for SCORE International.

This is the kind of things I'm hearing and reading about so I really don't understand just what is going on. Living in Washington state, it's a long trip to the border, only to get turned away when I get there.

All I can say is that it’s Baja and this sort of thing is not uncommon nor unexpected. People from the USA & Canada aren’t accustomed to lax or sporadic enforcement of the law that is common in Mexico. One border crossing may be strict while on the same day a different crossing couldn’t give a rat’s ass what you do.

More and more people are heading SOB everyday, and we never hear of anyone being turned back.If by chance you are,try another crossing,or just wait a while. As Strong Bad said"sporatic" is part of the game here.

My two friends departed last week but went to Death Valley instead, deciding not to try to cross into Baja. Unfortunately, the weather in DV was not the best. We'll try in Feb.
