That is Belfort city covered market. Still in use, of course.

on my way north, thought i crossed into Germany since the towns have German names. never made it to Strasbourg, spend the night in Entzheim on the outskirts. only when i talked to the receptionist that i learned it's still France. this town is part of Alsace which is very close to Germany and has it's own unique identity.

There are many replicas of the Statue of Liberty everywhere but especially in France as the original was a gift from the people of France to the people of USA.
This one is the Colmar city one. It is one of the youngest :

Fun fact about Alsace inhabitants, they call the rest of France inhabitants "Français de l'intérieur" which means "French from the inside".
After the 1871 German annexation, they felt as the "French from the outside".

In France, after visiting Bitche, you can go to Anus, Seix, Pussy, Condom, Ars, Brest or Stiff.

glad to hear you're enjoying the report. sorry, no dirt...haha.

the architecture definitely is mind blowing. the best part, they kept most of them to the original or near old glory. the closer you get, the more details you'll find. lots of history!

i enjoyed my travels and it's a cultural and historical experience.

No worries. My adventures are ALL on pavement. I had an early enduro which saw dirt and an MX bike which never saw pavement but everything else has been a road bike. I appreciate the aspect of being along on the trip and enjoying the experience as though I'm there. As with many road reports the food is pure travel porn.

Thats a shame, because between Trier and Dusseldorf is the Eifel region with some of the best riding in Germany. I know because that is where I live...

i agree, plus meeting friendly people is a nice experience too.

didn't know anything about the Eifel region, wish i did. something to visit next time since it's only less than 2 hours from where my bike is stored.

was lucky, had 4 days of rain in the 22 days i was out there. another rider i met from the states went south thinking of a sunny weather but not the case.
