Didn’t have new brake disc bolts so cleaned off the Loctite and re-used them. 17” wheel cleaned up nice...it was full of oil from an over eager chain oily owner.

Struggling with the cush. I had to give up. It got dark and it was still 95F. Hope to attack the front suspension on Friday. It needs the factory lowering.

Big hopes for today’s work...we’ll see it hit 115F 46C yesterday! Any way cleaned stuff up, I HATE working on oily bikes. Previous owner sure loved to oil his chains.

I have to change the rear suspension too, and the linkage was oil caked...I hate that.

3B64FCB5-A4DD-46AA-A68A-4C5D055E6C11.jpeg Contrary to what you may read on the interwebs DO NOT weld a 3/4” across flats nut to a tee bar.....the nut slips......you need a 30mm across flats nut. I had made this a while ago....first time I tried to use it I had to go buy another nut. Anyway front is successfully lowered 2” now.....well it will be when I slide the legs back in....we had a thunderstorm and heavy rain and I was working outside....yayyyy....rain in Los Angeles in July!

1E67F678-8CD7-4E36-B375-6C74C4F972AC.jpeg This is a mod all my bikes get. I first saw it at the Panama House Hostel when a group of us met for the first time.....to go to the 6th December 2013 Stahlratte crossing to Colombia. I was transfixed by it’s simplistic idea, detracts little from protection yet makes lubing the chain just a little easier.

A9CFDB4E-EDF2-4B8F-BB6E-BA520E05775F.jpeg I’ve been doing this lately too. You can see the front sprocket condition. This is a budget build no case saver unless we find a used one or we find some money at the end of the build

Curiously the top chain roller was still there. I removed it in accordance with DR650 folklore legend. Blocked the hole with filler. C505274D-8617-4C6A-AB66-32226502AF87.jpeg 432FA71B-ED68-4F33-AAEC-DE01679C28AA.jpeg

What is the mod? (For us non-dr650 owners who can't go compare it to our own)

New front brake pads. Anti squeak grease on contact points and pin. I love this trail stand bracket..I’d have like to keep it for myself! 19 pounds on the caliper bolts. Took a little time off to watch Croatia beat England in the semi finals of the Workd Cup Soccer.
