Well, in Nordic Countries you can never know, what kind of Summer it will be... It may be hot, it may be cold and rainy - and it may change rapidly. That's especially the case in Norway, rains come from the Atlantic. Our way of travelling makes it easier to handle: no tight time schedule. If forecasts say that it's gonna be rainy day tomorrow, go to city and stay there that day, visit museums or something. Then continue the next day... There will be sunny days, too., as you can see from our pics! And the weather can always be different on the other side of a mountain!
Best time of the year is Summer as during the winter it would be quite challenging and in Norway many roads are closed during the winter.

MyTime, thanks for the wonderful photos, and for putting them together with maps. I have doubts that I will ever get to visit, but one never knows.

Vilvi must have a good sense of humor!

A month in Norway, PART 8: Over the see and over the mountains to Narvik

Some a little less known places in Norway. Beautiful sceneries even when raining but better when the Sun is shining. Stories on vikings in those areas a thousand years ago!

The whole story and all pics here: https://www.vanhamoto.net/2021/01/kuukausi-norjassa-osa-8-merta-ja.html (and again a little warning, some pics just for openminded people :) )

I have been through a lot of these places in 2004-2006 on a BMW R-45 traveling from Rostock Germany where my wife lives.

Thank you very much for the photo and the link; many great photos and fantastic sceneries! That is a clean machine. Previously, I had never considered pink rubber gloves as an interesting sub-set to rubber gloves in general. Indeed they are!

When I rode through Finland I had taken the ferry from Rostock to Hanko. My first night in the country I ended up at a small hotel where the owners and guests were intent on partying all night. This was OK with me! This was before smart phones and digital cameras were widely available, so I just kind of lucked into this situation. I was enroute to Nord Kapp and kept running up with a group of bikers from Spain and another group from Italy. We got to partying hugely every night. I am from the US and speak Spanish as well as English with a minor grasp of German so I ended up being the translator for the lot of us since nearly everyone in Scandinavia speaks perfect English. The Spaniard's dialects were so regional that I could only understand one of them, though they all could understand me. The Italians I was somewhat able to figure out because of the similarities to Spanish and, most helpfully, their abundant hand gestures.

I look forward to your next reports, thanks!

A month in Norway, PART 9: Yøu Bøngi Stømp!

Bø and Stø are well-known for... actually they are not well-known at all. We were told, that they are the most popular places in the area, because so few people have visited them. Very strange logic. They could as well tell, that these places are famous because Jesus, Gandhi and John Lennon have not visited those places. But actually - they are places to ride! Strong recommendation. So many people ride through Lofoten, but they should ride around the near islands, too!

A month in Norway, PART 10: A woman hot with ice in Tromsø

From Harstad to Tromsø: small roads and large bridges, hot and cold, tunnels and feelings... In an ice bar you may meet different people than in an ordinary bar as there is forzen cold inside, everything is made of ice - even drinkglasses. And Viivi was surprised in the morning as a big ship had arrived in front of the windows, so in the dark night with lights on in the room she had been like in television...

I don't know what fairing that WAS but as far as I know it had been on that -86 K75 already in 80's. Now it's replaced with original stuff, no fairing but a windshield. I bought that bike just two years ago but I have another K75 (-89) that I bought 2013.
There are a lots of Harleys in Finland. We have winter here, too. Some winter pics in these stories - do not open if you get offended easily!
