Wolf Mountain is fun, half of it is perfectly good well graded gravel so they can get the Christmas trees out, the other half is more rugged but not Hurricane Creek level rugged. If it is your first time I recommend riding it downhill from Charlies Creek.

So, the water has receded near I40 toward Buzzards Roost.

We're planning on going through there and cataloochee on Tues. I rode it last Nov, it was after some rain, and did get through, though I was too puckered to get any pics.

Edit : if I can get signal, I'll post up how it was then. We'll be loaded up and willing to abort if need be.

Careful. If you’re talking about the road across, That’s not a place to take risk.

The spillway? Yeah, totally agree. What's not as obvious to me is the mud holes on the way up. Last time up there, spillway was only a few inches, but up top was scary. If water is too high going in, we'll go to Waterville and come in that way.

Big winds came thru here yesterday and I imagine the forest service is busy cleaning up some downed trees.

Turns out I didn’t ride it after all. We were doing a rout called the Cataloochee Loop but we took a different rout down from Max Patch over to Cataloochee. I did discover another interesting ride around there, I knew that you can turn at the Mt Sterling Trailhead and take a rugged Jeep road over to 288, but I didn’t know that there is an even more rugged single track that pretty much parallels that road. The guys I was riding with knew about it and it was tough but fun.

Yes. Really depends on what we ride Wednesday. “If” we make good time, we plan to drop off any excess weight at Hampton Inn and come back through (Hwy 107) Martha Sandquist to Max Patch. Then down Cold Spring Cr and over to Ravens Roost. Then across to Cataloochee. Nothing in stone. Just wanna explore the area. We want to go out Balsam Mt Rd at some point from Maggie over to Cherokee.

Buzzards roost..... The river is too high and fast to cross. We came in from Waterville. ... Beautiful day and riding. They've really improved the road since I was last up here.
