Just rub it in Mike, rub it in :lol3. I flip flopped on mounting some knobs and meeting up with you guys, I didn't even want to get on the DR yesterday because I knew I'd end up over there. It's going to be a pain stripping and building it, it would only be worse for my OCD if I was trying to clean everything first.

Hey all -- considering a trip to ride the BRP later in March. Do the OPEN sections have salt on them?

BTW -- the link of the BRP road status was very helpful.

I’ve never seen any salt deposits on the BRP near Asheville. If there is a forecast of snow, freezing rain or black ice they usually shut it down ahead of time. The NPS closure map is updated daily unless there is a government shut down.

It was a nice day of riding. I may be a wuss for trailering a 1300cc bike with electronic cruise control, but the extra 100 miles of highway riding would have been no value added at all. It's nice to unload and be right in the good stuff.

I didn't see anybody ride their bikes to the meeting spot. We were a team of wusses then!

One of my favorite feelings is pulling away in my truck after a day of riding. The smooth surfaces feel like clouds after a day in the saddle.

I wish, I have just learned to accept that I will have to take I40 to work, which is way less convenient for me, every time there is even a hint of snow in the forecast.

I did manage to get through one morning this year, it was a little slick, and when I got off at the arboretum the ranger was standing there to close the gate. I was the last car through.

    Nice day for a ride.

    330367BB-4241-4682-8D58-BA74CEE31BFD.jpeg

Headed over to Max Patch Rd. and into the woods. Pretty good amount of people getting away to the woods.

Good news, Hurricane Creek is still open.

Martha Sundquist was gated off of Max Patch Rd.

    EDBC3963-70FD-46A9-92B6-4A4237278A6B.jpeg

But open off of Cold Springs Creek Rd.

I didn’t have the tires for it but that hill climb is always fun. Saw a guy in a Corvette in one of the campsites on the way up. That’s a steep hill to get a Vette up.

    Hit FS 288

Cataloochee is closed so I took Mount Sterling Rd into TN.

Crossed under 40 and back to gravel.

Got a little lost, but found some things to explore with better tires.

    Spring has sprung.

    Ended up here.

Took 40 back to Fines Creek and jammed White Oak Rd. back home.

My brother lives off of it, I freaking love that road. Never know what you’ll find around every blind corner, keeps you on your toes when you hustle it :super

Is the coffee shop in Hartford open this time of year? One of my favorite lunch stops.

I’m not sure, the Big Creek General Store is for sure closed until April. We were just chatting with her yesterday sitting on the porch there taking a break from the rain. Martha Sundquist is open for business, ran through yesterday and saw a decent amount of people including a group of 3 from Sevierville riding a DRZ400, brand new CRF450L, and an XT225. Good riding, no pics though we had an agenda and it was thick fog and rain anyway.

Thought I would good see the crowd at the Dragon and was very surprised to such a light turn out. I did talk to 3 sportbike guys that came across the Skyway and they had someone in their group crash requiring a helo ride out. I decided to head back to Graham Country and explore some more back roads around Sawyers Creek always looking for dirt and gravel while trying to learn my way around.

I have seen several posts that Graham County is shutting down to visitors. That includes shutting down the Skyway. Did you see any signs of that?

I'm sorry I didn't stop. I didn't put the pieces together until later. I was also running late to meet my buds for lap 2.

Sounds like we both frequent the same playground. We should ride together one of these days.
