Man, good stuff guys! I’m working on it Bert. After seeing that I’ll work a little harder
Met up with @Rusty Rocket and 4 other guys who may or may not be on here and may or may not remember their user names
Max Patch Rd, in the morning on the way to meet up with them
Met up at good ‘ol 2250 and made a loop of Martha.
This one’s gunna hurt, luckily it wasn’t anything serious.
We cruised over to Buzzard Roost
Hit TN 32 for a bit then over Green Corner and over this.
I split off in Del Rio and rode Round Mountain/Max Patch back home. Great day of riding with some cool cats Thanks for having me Rocket!
Wow! Surprised that little Yamaha would wheelie.
@JRowland I woulda coulda shoulda have joined yall yesterday but I needed to catch up on a few things. Looks like everyone was having fun and great pics as always.
Man I've got to make time and head a little west and meet up with you guys for a ride! You're rides always looks great!
The left hand or downstream line through that water crossing is a lot more shallow than going right down the middle, just saying…….
Mike, the funniest part about that was @Rusty Rocket was standing to my right directing them to that side. I just kept snapping pics
That's what went through my mind as I watched it live
I went to the downstream side and waved to everyone coming to stay to that side, but they must've had. target fixation and headed for the middle. Made for great pictures though
Me and a buddy went up and camped at mountain view motorcycle campground up in Elk Park NC rode a ton of gravel around and up into damascus, what an awesome place and area to ride in.
Back tomorrow. . . . And looks like a change in the weather! Cool this weekend - I don’t mind camping in colder weather, but my “bathtub” going to be cold this weekend . . . (It was ‘refreshing’ last weekend).
— Kevin. (Robbinsville weather)
My ‘bathtub’ — perfect for the paddle board too . . .
I had no idea all those scenic roads were there or anywhere for that matter . I owned 2 dual sports and just rode them on these country paved roads. Oh well, I’m a scooter guy only now due to hip/pelvis pain from falling off one of them.
Me and ol sidewinder could have shot the perfect Bmw ad this past Tuesday...
Basically rode every type of road there is from a touch of 4 lane, to race track like twisties, to bumpy backroads, to fast dirt roads, to mud hole roads, to rocky roads, to roads made completely of leaves! Exactly what these bikes are made for, 3 states and just at 350 miles.
Lookout... GS army!
Sidewinder hooked me up with breakfast.
Had to drop a tag for NC/NC game!
Then the fun really began.
Hmmm HP or Rallye?
Of course Sidewinder couldn’t resist taking me through the mud.
All in all, was a much needed break from my routine Tuesday. Good times were had, laws may have been broken... probably not by us though.
FYI. Two major issues in Yancey/Mitchell county. NC 226 is closed going up the ridge to Spruce Pine/Little Switzerland. They thought it would be cleared by Sunday morning. You also cannot get to 226A from 226.
There is also a rock slide on the BRP between NC80 and Mt Mitchell at MM 340. No idea how long that will be a problem.
I am starting Sat. AM. from Erwin, TN. on the NE half of the SM1000. I will be heading CC down to Franklin and then head back up thru Ashville on the route finishing back in Erwin. I guess I will pass on a run up 226 to the General Store by Lil-Switz.
226 is open. BRP @ MM340 is not.
caught up with mowing yesterday, took a loop to Franklin on 28, Wayah Rd and home via Robbinsville and Stecoah
wanted to exercise the SV today, was warming up so took my electric jacket off right before I left the house - Rookie Move #1
kinda wanted to ride the Rudicoaster, couldn’t make up my mind...
alas the Suzuki won over, but as I was getting back on the bike after the photo op, I saw I had left the house with the tail bag unzipped, Rookie Move #2. I lucked out as nothing, even my registration that I had just stuck in there, flew out.
about 70 miles, but I really had trouble with my hips, having to stop every 20 or so to stretch them. I love that bike, but maybe I’m getting too old and fat to ride it. Ill try some stretching tonight, and maybe a slug of prednisone tomorrow before I head out. If that doesn’t work I’m running out of options - boo hoo ;-(
and I’ve already forgotten what Rookie Move #3 was, so I’m sure I’ll repeat it in the near future.
3 things that prove you are getting old:
1: Your memory starts to go bad
2: It's harder to get up in the morning
I can't seem to remember #3
3. you come to a stop, get one foot down and realize you can’t move and you’re stuck on the bike
@kvango and I had a 2 awesome days of riding Sat was about 130 miles and Sun was ~200 mile. Sat was Winding Stairs Rd, Old River Rd, Tusquittee Rd, Rainbow Springs Rd, Tellico Gap Rd and Needsmore Rd, Sun was FS81 to North River Rd, Bald River Rd, Old Furnance Rd, River Rd, Schulers Crk Rd, Joe Brown, Burrell Mountain Rd, Davis Crk Rd and back thru Green Cove and the "Gravel hala". Proof will have to wait til Kevin post pictures and the "Relive" route tracker.
