No worries sir, mud isn't your fault, nor leaves to hide it. I wanted to ride the trails too. I'm afraid we might still be there if we had continued on though. Today while rinsing the mud off, I noticed the lower engine bar took a hit, had to be some rocks under the leaves. OR @CheapB crashed it while behind us. Probably rocks.

I’ve only read the most recent pages of this thread, but have already seen enough I know I want to be subscribed. Keep it coming!

I’m in northern VA and look forward to getting down that way...

Mix of gravel and paved, but mostly gravel. Turns to paved at the top a couple miles before the table rock parking area. The paved section is a lane and a half wide at most, super tight switch backs. So... fun :)

Deep mud and deep gravel a couple of weeks ago on middle road. Looks like logging trucks was tearing up the roads and they were fixing parts of it.

They’re just finishing what they started last year when they “improved” the other half of Middle Rd. I’m just hoping they leave Chestnut Ridge alone but I doubt it.

FYI, bent creek, wash creek, yellow gap, 475b, 475 still open. wash creek is still closed to the parkway but parkway is also closed.
I have a feeling they will close yellow gap for road repair soon since the road is falling away in one spot and appears worse since the last time I went through.

That's an interesting map. Who made it?

Some of the roads that I'm familiar with around Sugar Grove, NC aren't marked properly, but maybe I don't understand how it's marked.

Hey Glenn. It has been around for years. Originally started from bicycle enthusiasts to identify less trafficked areas. That is why some of the “trails” are non motorized- like the New River trail and VA Creeper.

However, it’s a great tool to use for exploring.
