I rode s bunch of Brown Mountain today on my KTM 300. No pics. Great weather. Probably the last nice day in 2020
Good riddance 2020. Can't wait for my vaccine so I can get back to living without worrying that everyone might give me the vid

@SwampyDeadHead , we used Charlie Devnew at Ward and Ward Properties, 336 902-1722 a few years ago and really liked him, he was great for us. I -think- he's gonna be more in the High Country area, (Wilkes, Watauga, Ashe counties) not sure where you're looking.

2020 is over! What a Great Year!!
Umm, ok not all of it. :photog
But I did spend about 24 days in the hills (VA, NC, GA, TN) - and I had the honor of riding with @justBert and @JRowland. It was a pleasure to meet and ride, and experience great local hospitality. A different experience to ride with others, and great benefits such as learning areas and linking trails creating epic day rides. Nice to not be out there alone - (In 2014 I rode out of Andrews and broke down coming down Porterfield Gap/Snowbird - Cherokee police helped me get back to Andrews with my bike!)

On a positive note - I am starting 2021 off right — I will be here this weekend and next. Riding, hiking, property search. Got the bike sorted with new countershaft seal, engine covers, and Hondo Garage buzz kill —

For those coming from Florida, Buc-ee’s is now open in Warner Robbins - cheap gas, decent food, an impressive operation!

Happy New Year! I really enjoyed meeting you and riding together, I’m certainly hoping to do more of it this year. Maybe next weekend :-)

It’s my classic “Husa” pose, glad you didn’t post this one >>:muutt

Little different scenery today than our ride — and didn’t ride much due to the rain.

Middle Rd. in Martha Sundquist was pretty interesting too, very soft. @Rusty Rocket made it look easy with Shinko 705s no less, I had brand new knobs and I was glad. Max Patch Rd. was in pretty good shape, TN 32 was dirty and moist which kept it interesting. Other than that it was an uneventful day enjoying all this beauty we’re lucky to be surrounded by. It was a great way to kick off 2021.

I have the same pics as jrowland so i won't post them. I will say that I missed my knobbies today. :-) I had 109 miles on my GPS when we finished.
There's no way a motorcycle would have made it through the river .
I doubt any vehicle without really high ground clearance and under 1 ton in weight would get across. So nice that the weather gods gave us such a warm day in January. I did put my grip heaters on a couple times at elevation. There was some snow in a few places. Great day.

Trying to plan some 2021 rides, and I feel im missing some good areas. Im in Greensboro but have a family farm home in near Bakersville NC below Spruce pine so not far from TN up over Roan Mountain etc.. or the BRP but finding good gravel or anything challenging has been kinda rough. We did some good rides last year up ther, my Son and friend, but would like to find some of these areas im seeing in these pics and maybe get connected with some of you folks that ride there sometime int he spring, etc..Grew up in in WV and still have family there so got a decent handle on some great routes less traveled not many folks know about, always looking for folks to tag along with us on those trips as well!

I’m looking to do the same. I am hitting the TAT in august.... but planning a Smokey mountain 500 run in April, to camp and shakedown my gear. Happy to have some company and I’m flexible on days . I’m in the same boat as you.... know the asphalt around here like the back of my hands..... but hoping to learn the trails now. Tagging along with the guys with the local knowledge would be great.

I’ve been riding for years but have been on sport bikes on and off the track and sport tourers the last 20 years. Just now getting back into trail and dualsports.... I’m near Clemson, SC and always ready to ride.

I have tried to find good trails up in that area, there are many roads up there, but almost everything is private and gated nowadays.

Everybody has a picture of the low water bridge when it is not exactly low water…looks like yours is even higher than it was when I turned back.

I would have turned back for your picture as well, there was no doubt on Saturday it was definitely a no go. I'm not sure I would've driven a heavy vehicle across. I think that day you posted the pics from is when I misunderstood you about the trailer and I was worried you were stuck somewhere IIRC :lol3

Sylva or Franklin will put you in the middle of plenty of riding both paved and not if you are interested in the west of Asheville areas if you like a base camp spoked wheel kind of vacation. You could also slab to Tellico Plains or North Georgia and work your way back east picking up and putting down each night. Check these out to get an idea of what's available to the west.
