I would love to do this ride, when are you planning to do this again?
What a great route!
The riding weather in NC has been amazing lately, I guess Ida sucked all the crap out.
It’s a good one. Perhaps next Sunday….
If anyone happens to be out on Old NC105 today stop by and say hey, the fam and I are camped out
Wife and I have 300’s. Mine’s a 2017 and hers a 2018. We don’t do a lot of “adv” riding with ‘em, we use our XT225’s for that, but they are excellent bikes. One of the most fun bikes I’ve had and they handle everything we throw at them with ease. Did a cross country trip on them last year and had a ball!
Rode up the BDR from Damascus. Started in MVMC actually this morning. Then busted a left and now in the New River gorge national park area. Gonna explore around here a few days then tick NW and pick up the BDR back south. Light rain on and off since mid afternoon. I’m now camped at a mountain bike campground in Fayetteville, WV. Every public and private campground I called or tried to book was full. Should improve tomorrow when the holiday weekend is over.
BDR southern section was in good shape and pretty tame except for a section of freshly laid gravel. It was more slab than I expected. I ran into one other north bound rider on a Vstrom out of Asheville area and chatted with him for a bit. I will report back on other sections later in the week.
Side story kinda funny. I stopped at a random saloon/snack bar for a very late lunch somewhere in WV. Google sent me here basically. I park the bike and walk up and see you have a ring a door bell and the windows are dark tinted and a lady slides a little window open like some shit outta prohibition.
Her - Where you from?
Me - Florida ma’am
Her - you got a gun?
Me - yes but I won’t rob you I just want a corn dog and a beer or something
Her - (as she buzzes me in) good thing you got a gun the meth heads keep trying to get in
turns out the place was some kind of video poker establishment.
Thanks for the feedback. Everyone that has one kind of feels the same.
Swoopy. Beautiful day out there. Ask the hawk. I mean, falcon.
He’s a good doggie.
The 300 is a good bike. Full size, and pretty nimble. It shines on the twisty backroads and does a decent job on gravel. It does interstate well, except passing quickly. The seat is the worst I’ve ever sat on but Seat Concepts has a great solution.
My favorite type of road, ballsy shot I love it
Visited my church’s cemetery today to check on a couple recent burials. Always a good idea to check a day or two after to make sure they’re still daid.
Thats a full life right there. Always seems to be the women who make it that far...wonder why
First ride on the new-to-me Transalp today and I am already in love with this ol girl!
Living 5 minutes from the BRP has its advantages
Took the gravel road up to the top of Grandmother Mtn
Great 50 mile shakedown cruise
This coming weekend, the weather looks to be PERFECT weather for riding!!!!!!! Gonna get some seat time in for sure.
Loading up for the Blue Ridge ADV Ride this weekend, who's going?
Have fun, take some pics Are you taking the new to you 2 smoke?
Sounds awesome and I am only about 35 minutes from the Pineola Inn, but having just got the Transalp on Sat I don't quite have the confidence in it (yet) for a longer adventure ride. Soon though!
Yes I am! Heading over a day early so I can ride Brown Mountain with Kris. The 3390 is geared back up for Dual Sport duty so that's the line up. Charging up the GoPro so I should get some video if I can remember to turn it on.
