@JRowland cool man. My idea of not many houses has a strong Florida influence I guess ha ha. Glad you made it up there that waterfall would be even more awesome without all the foliage later in the year.

I’m gonna do my best to get a nice picture after the leaves fall.

More shit added to the “Bert” list of future exploration :lol3 We ran into an older couple from Andrews here and chatted with them for a bit.

Love that I-40 overlook. On my bucket list. Small problem though. I sold all 3 of my dual sports. And don’t think my maxi-scooters would make it up there.

Thanks for that. Seems I was in that area back in early July while riding the AT. I remember the Garmin repeating some waypoints. Tight, curvey roads really mess with it trying to calculate location.

Yes you can, I mean I wouldn’t do it in the rain or anything but on a dry day yes. Beautiful roads to ride in the area that aren’t gravel as well.

I want to head to the Boone/Grandfather area sometime in the next month and ride some gravel/dirt, but I need to trailer my CRF250L. I'm really worried about finding a place to unload the bike and park the car+trailer. Anyone have any ideas? Only real option I can think of is finding an Airbnb place with enough parking, which will be hard considering it's leaf season.

And if anyone wants to give some route tips that'd be much appreciated. I think some folks gave me ideas earlier in the thread. I'll likely head to the Wilson Creek area, and then eventually make my way along Old NC 105.

I'm actually going to do the same thing. I just picked up a used Yamaha XT250 that I'm fixing up and plan to trailer/haul it out there in November for a little shakedown. My suggestion to check out is Mountain View Motorcycle Campground in Elk Park. I stay there often, it's a great place and they do have room for limited trailer parking. Message/call them to double check, but I think that might fit your needs perfectly.

Oh yea and the roads around there are great. Perfect for these 250's.

Met some fine folks from the NC adv fb group this weekend. Rode up to Willville Friday afternoon and hung out for a bit. Then headed back that way on Saturday morning with @SuhthernBoy and @kickstand72 and we had a fantastic ride! Pa is definitely losing his mind in his old age, one ride he goes from scolding me and @SidewinderX to the next ride he’s trying to persuade me to ride on historic landmarks and racing me down the road! :lol3

Good times for sure though. IMG_3897.jpg

The SC group I met Friday afternoon were good peeps, enjoyed talking motosickles with you boys!

This poor Harley was so waterlogged from the rain it wouldn’t even start. :lol3

Inside joke here, he did a water crossing the week or so before and it sucked up some water in the airbox and got hydro locked. Seemed to be the fault of aftermarket filter (screaming eagle) being too open I believe.

Also ended up meeting a dude that actually lives about 15 minutes from me lol. We ended up riding back towards the house together that evening, probably should have left before dark lol.

Good riding on Saturday, one of my favorites was Thunderstruck, we turned it up a little on that one… :super:D

The dirt roads were grease this weekend! Maple Sally Rd was a riot in the rain and slop though, it would go from OK traction on the gravel to an ice skating rink on the wet red clay. Also, the TA is freaking heavy. time for a lighter bike
