I've been having back problems lately, so I set out from the house, not knowing how far I'd be able go. 130 miles and I was able to do it pain free :clap

It was such a beautiful day, but there were a lot of wet leaves in the corners of the paved twisties, that had been mushed by cars, into slick mud, making it impossible to go hard into a corner that you didn't have a complete view of the exit

You'd like his garage :nod I don't want to plan it but getting a bunch of people from this thread all together would sure be fun.

Well, that was a pavement ride.
That dirt two track in the photo is as off-road as it got. And I just poked along.
    But it's a start.:-)

@Rusty Rocket, where was that pic "Somewhere in Mitchell County" taken, beside the Nolichucky or North Toe River? I've followed the railroad on Google maps in Mitchell county from Altapass to TN and can't figure out where it might've been. Maybe the road you're bike is on doesn't appear on the map.

I had the same experience both Sat & Sun. So many pulverized leaves it made riding at a fun pace Unwise. I slid the front one time I thought I had lost it. One guy in our group did. He was okay but crashing always sucks.

Another real condition is the increase of Leaf Peepers this year. Blame it on COVID or whatnot, but there were more cages in Yancey /Mitchell counties than I have ever seen. Almost got hit by one as they turned left in front of me as I approached an overlook. It’s a dangerous overlook with the turn in right in the middle of the corner.
Ba safe out there. Lots of idiots on phones, doing everything except what they supposed to be doing.

The people pressure sure does feel higher this leaf season. I'm seeing lots of traffic here, feels like more than summer but probably not.

@Rusty Rocket, thanks, thought it looked familiar. I've ridden that road a few times with MarkC from MVMC, hey @CheapB, @SidewinderX & @kickstand72, y'all remember the ride along the tracks & @CheapB, we rode it back in April when we were Elk park with your buddies. I'd like to run it with time to look around one day, you know < WOT.:D

Im in the area riding now. Nice cruise down the parkway from Floyd to Blowing Rock. I've been riding the area off and on for 20? Years. If you're planning to ride the area I would suggest you by one of these. You can plan some fun loops, a few miles or hundred. It's map #779.
