I just want to show a bit of the riding area available west of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho along the drainage area of the Rio Puerco. I'll start with a few pics from yesterday's ride.

These 2 were taken a week apart at the same spot, a surprise both days!

I come down off the mountain and ride the Puerco in the winter when nothing else is open. Fun place, especially after a rain. Miles and miles of trails out there. Nice pictures.

AhH - that's where I first learned to ride a dirt bike. Beautiful country!

Here are a few pics from a great Rio Puerco high desert ride today with @duggram. The sand was still moist from Tuesday's rain and the temp was in the low 70s. Perfect!

Something is wrong with your pictures. They look flat compared to what I remember. There's also the issue of soreness. I need a pain pill to get out of bed this morning! What a great day though.

With mid-day pics, there are no shadows or contrast to show the whoops, et al.

Looks like good territory. Might have to include that in a big loop sometime.

    That's my kind of country!
Can you just head out and start riding, or do you need some kind of permit?
You see a lot of coyotes around there?

Just ride. You will encounter fences where the various native American reservations abut. Some of the area is BLM and some is owned by a developer but that is the way it has been for decades. Thousands of acres, hundreds of miles of trails!

the headlight assembly is a Husqvarna OEM part from the FE. It was included in the lighting kit which is from Sicass Racing.

Here are a few more pics of the Rio Puerco country just to show the variety of terrain we have (yeah, I know there is a lot of sand, but it is good for skill-building !:-))
