Mid June. Getting warm here. I'm hungry. I'm in the mood for brunch. In Alaska.

I'll be taking Kate4 with me. She's a handsome girl.

She did a high one with Dances on Rocks as I departed my local KTM dealership. I patted old Husky on the head and told him to be a good boy.

Got the medium house seam-sealed one extra time, and I'll be testing it's waterproofness this trip.

Love my screen-ed porch. 2 levels of mesh to keep those biting you-know-whats off me.
I like this fabric color better than last year's version. No carbon fiber this year, that stuff is nasty.

I programmed my GPS for the most important waypoints...the past, present, and future delish places to eat. yum.

Brunch will consist of coffee and, of course, an omelette.

    :-)

As I carefully plan my route, I found Google directions are so exacting.

I prefer to use Paintbrush as my route planner.

It really is more fun than one might think. If gravity wasn't a factor.

It's 8:15 am. I'm having coffee contemplating Day 1 of my travels.

    Luggage:
Side bags - Mosko Moto's 25L Back Country.
Top bags - Forward is the house. Aft is the bedding. same bedding as last year. probably should wash them this morning.
Tank bag - a few tools and some Dave treats.

Since I'll pack just like every previous trip, I'll just throw everything I need in the Mosko Moto side bags and go. Usually takes about 15 minutes.

Similar to previous ADV trips, I'll post in real time-ish, and the posts will be mostly silly.

I'll roll to Heber, Arizona today.

I'm about 200 miles from a nice, quiet sleep spot and I get to test how well everything got shoved into the side bags.
I've found that bumpy dirt roads pack things down nicely.

I'll rely on Kate4's abilities. She's only 2 months young and she's got 900 proper break-in miles. She's looking forward to the ride.
She will treat me well, as long as I can feed her some of that delish 94 octane no ethanol. I'll clean the chain somewhat regularly.

    Critic,

I'll do my best to entertain. I gotta new phone since last year's ride.

It takes better pics and I have the pad app. - it let's me type faster with my pads - "dog-friendly" typing.

They've been working on the sniff app. That app is supposed to be for leaning out of a moving car window while it locates my competition within a mile radius.
They've got more work to do on that. The sniff sensor on my phone is calibrated for omelettes. and salmon. and pastrami.

Oopsie, gotta postpone today's afternoon departure to tomorrow morning.

I forgot I had to see the vet for my shots. and a haircut and shampoo. that stylish handkerchief which I'll chew off before bed.

I'll be departing early in the morning. One of the rare times I start to roll before 9am. ugh.

    Day 1.1

In Flagstaff, AZ. Chacho-ing something for lunch. Nice day.

    Departed this morning at 0745.
    Woooow. (in Owen Wilson's voice)

    Good thing.....my posterior still intact.

I can do one chin up now. My neck muscles got a workout with the blasting up here from Tucson.

4 hours on interstate. Glad Kate4 has lots of horsepower.

Interstate riding 75mph for a while on a big dirt bike with no windshield felt like this....

The fast sections of this video is how I looked passing a big truck. From the trucker's pov.

My pace will be slower after lunch.
I had to make up for my not riding yesterday.
Gotta be somewhere specific on Saturday 2pm ish.

Rolled outta Flagstaff around 2ish. Dave time.

There are fires just north and west of US89.
Looked like everything was in Sepia.

Thank a fire fighter. They are awesome.

After gassing up, I put the music in them ears and find my Hetfield-remixed-Abba tracks.

Soon, I remembered that wicked wind north of Flagstaff.

Was sustained 30kts at 270. Gusts were F5 level.

Stopped to hydrate and snapped Kate in the shade just chillin

These vents in the Aplinestar pants were creepy at first.
The after lunch sauna ride...Dave now likes them vents.
