Lots of campers near my campspot. Had to adjust my sleep spot 1/2 mile.

Randay not getting the camper and half of Walmart's inventory out this far.

Liked my wide range of surfaces this morning.

From GS drop zones (Kate grin zones) to technical medium speed dirt to smoove highway with complimentary twisties.

    A few from last evening

We're headed to Escalante, UT. Home to the desert doctor and the largest cutlery in a restaurant.

    212 miles to go.
    It's 1315 howas.
    I am wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

I'm in Escalante. Having a bite. In the restaurant with pitch forks as cutlery.
    20190810_201230.jpg

    Pasta was good.

    It's yuuuge!

Tried to eat the shoe leather.

No joy. Just ordered more pasta.

Maybe I caught Circle D restaurant on a bad day.

The after lunch ride was nice.
Some twisty slab. Lots of dirt.

    The high speed section.

You know I called on Kate's 75 horses here.

    She did not disappoint.

Had a quiet sleep outside right beside Circle D. Nice sunny Sunday morning at a required stop for me.

Even though the meal disappointed me, the town and area never do.

Quiet now for a few weeks because tourists don't like the 'heat' here. It will pick up in a few weeks.

    The main drag.

Want to show Kate the Husky mud hole today. Minus the rain.

    Sentimental, mostly.

Last year this time, I didn't have alotta confidence riding the 80 mile challenging off-road section to Page, AZ. I do this year.

I've done this route on every bike. KLR, BMW1,2, Husky, Kate1,2,3.

My Escalante-to-Page record is 2.5 hours. Kate 1 holds that. Husky has the slowest time. Not his fault, it was his rider. The BMWs got more dents in their non-capable rims, and their suspensions bottomed out lots.

Going into Page grab a bite and some supplies and head back to the world's quietest sleep spot. I hope it's quiet.

Now that looks like fun! Always wondering what lies around the corner.....might have something to do with my Nordic ancestry?

Nice to have an un-disappointing meal. Strombolli's. Had a cow zone the size of an omelette. It is pasta night.

I got to Page and gave Kate some attention. Nice bath. Chain needed a wash and lube. 100mL of oil. All good.

12,600 miles and she's still smiling.

Going to my (hopefully) quiet sleep spot after dinner.

Toroweap Point tomorrow nite, after a visit to the permit store.

I must say, Kate is pretty special! Think of all the places she has gone in her short life. Most likely more than the average person in the USA.
United States of America that is.

    Well said.

She's so dependable, a great horse to travel with.

I stopped a few times this morning to snap pics and wondered how the cowboys riding their horses posted pics. Did they get off the horse to take photos, or did they stay in the saddle. Hmmm.

Do think I found my soul.

    I found my peace.

Settled into my favorite quiet spot north of Page, AZ. Escalante Grand Staircase.

Discovered this place 12 years ago. Never disappoints.

Did my usual ride to Toroweap Point.

    20190812_142852.jpg
Had a few gates to go thru to get to the main road.

    20190812_143744.jpg
    Wide open spaces.

    Nice and quiet.
    20190812_175005.jpg
Saw some juicy Perseids just before dawn.

Then got up and enjoyed the view.
    20190813_072602.jpg

Never even went to the overlook.
    Been there a zillion times.

Back in Kanab, UT contemplating the route home.

I was riding on the moon this morning.
I photo shopped in the blue sky to make it look fake.
