New for 2019. We have set the date for May 11

Some folks have been asking about this ride, so here's the info.

    When: S̶a̶t̶u̶r̶d̶a̶y̶ ̶2̶8̶ ̶A̶p̶r̶i̶l̶ ̶2̶0̶1̶8̶

Where: From camp at the EFR ohv area to Riley and return.

How: Mostly two track on high desert sand roads and Forest Service roads. Some pavement, some fast gravel.

How hard: Sand, mud and ruts, rock, gravel. Nothing technical. Almost no single track, no bad stone gardens or gnarly hill climbs. Just long.

How long: Long. 2̶5̶0̶ ̶m̶i̶l̶e̶s̶ 270 miles, probly 10 hous plus ride time. Not counting stops.

What bike do I need: You need a plated bike for the paved bit and better than 150 miles of fuel range. Street tires not recommended.

How many riders: We don't know yet for sure.

Where is camp: Camp is the staging area on the NF25 road. Coordinates at the access are
43.78951, -121.03545 Paved roads get you to it, if you're hauling.

Where do we get fuel: There is one fuel stop, at Riley. They have E0. If you short the trip, there is fuel at Hampton, sometimes. That will need to be checked before the trip. Don't count on it as of now.

    Here is a map.

If you decide to short the ride, you can cut off at Glass Butte, thru Hampton.

For 2019, this was last year.

Heads up, Lobos MC out of Clakamas has an event planned on this same weekend. http://www.lobosmc.com/calendar/china_hat_isde

Their main staging is close, at the 2510 area. They have a poker run on Saturday and a so called ISDE on Sunday. This means extra traffic on the EFR trails and more crowding in the camps, including ours.

If we wanted quiet times at camp, looks like we aren't going to get that. Upside, the event on Sunday might be inneresting to see a piece of it. Maybe even someone you know is involved in it.

Stout route right there. I am probably out. Daughter returning home after six months in the UK. @97707 thanks for rallying the troops. I'll help organize one of these in the future. I have a route or two in mind ;o).

Are you back from Utah, or wherever you went?

I been scouting this one, tuning it up. Your 690, if you still have it, will kill here.

I don't want to oversell, but you don't want to miss this one.

    Unless you can't handle the distance . . .

Sounds awesome. How many signed up for this? I only know one guy who likes 250 mile rides.

We rode this stuff all week, so some gravel might be a bit much for sure.

See pic of JZ at area BFE. @ttime4four

Well this is tamer than that. A couple of inmates are bringing 950s, so no rock climbing.

Looks like six in and six more maybes so far. If the bunch gets big we can split it in two, put the fast boys in front.

Can't be too rough....or it won't get done inna day if it's 250 miles. This old man normally can't ride more than 8-10 hours of easier stuff. But whatever you give us, Punkin and I are READY !!
See you fuggers Friday at camp on Road 25 !!

I'm out for the loop ride. I might show up to camp Saturday night if they take the freezing temps and snow out of the forecast.

    "Slight chance of snow showers"
    You missed Crooked River, T.D.
You are now overdue to go camping with a "slight chance of snow showers".

From NOAA website for Camp 25 area:

    Friday Night
A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33.
    Saturday
A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49.
    Saturday Night
A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29.
    Sunday
A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46.

Big deal. Sounds perfect for Central Oregon to me....(read as: NOT too F'n hot)
