I only had the privilege of riding with him a few times over the years, but we were "ADV Friends/ and Facebook Friends" and I always enjoyed the way he shared is experiences.

I only know what I just read on the OBDR Riders group on Facebook...

"Our Moto brother Kevin Russell has passed. He gave cancer a strong fight."

    What the F????
    Ohhhh. :(
I only met him a few times, and even bought a used moto-lift from him, but he is surely immediately likeable. The first time I met him was riding the opposite direction on Barlow Road, like ten years ago.
    Damn. Cancer SUCKS!

He could afford ALL the best bikes, so he just bought them all. How cool was that?
Few folks deserved that opportunity more, I believe :nod :nod

RIP Kevin. I enjoyed our conversations, and sharing of rides.

Kevin had been ill for a while, and as I recall, bought a bike shortly after finding out that he was sick, knowing full well that his time on earth was likely going to get cut short. Good for him for doing what he could to enjoy life.

This is a stark reminder to live life sensibly, but not afraid of anything. You just never know when your life will abruptly come to an end. Kevin was somewhere around 57.. much too young to be taken away by this horrific illness.

That horrible :(. Kevin was one of the first people I ever road with after I picked the KLR up. I was a total rookie to the dual sport thing & he led me on a fantastic loop on on Hood waiting for me to play catch up the entire day... RIP friend...

I never met him but had a fun exchange with him electronically. There is a local attorney in Portland named Kevin Russell who I had done a few climbs with (one in Alaska) and we had fallen out of touch. I pinged him out of curiosity to see if this was the same guy. It wasn't.

Seemed like a great guy from our limited exchange. If any illness can in fact me evil, it would have to be cancer. Fuck cancer.

Kevin was the first to let us know of Ken's passing.
I met him a few times.
He took the time to talk to me about the Africa Twin. Visited with him at his house. He let me sit on his new bike and we talked at length about it.
He was a great guy and passed on fair deals on the latest motorcycles.
He was one of the first to have any of the cutting edge bikes and he freely shared what he had learned about them with anyone interested.
    He will be missed.

Kevin was a really nice guy. I bought a 1090 from him and a few parts for it a few years back. I saw him in Newberg at See See a few months ago and had a chat. Sad to hear of his passing.

I was shocked to hear the news of Kevin’s passing. Kevin was one of the first people I met when I joined a Tenere group about 7 years ago. I have ridden a lot with Kevin and what a humble and knowledgeable person he was. Always willing to help out, share info on bikes or rides and always spoke of bikes and his family, both of which he loved dearly. I will miss the monthly new addition to his bikes and was always curious what the next bike would be. We lost a gentle soul. RIP friend.

    Rest in peace, Kevin.
We never met but I'm grateful that you shared your vast experience across a number of bikes online. That experience was a very valuable aid to my decisions in the past. Thank you for sharing your love of bikes with all of us.

I only met him in person once, we both happened to be at the Tigard BMW shop getting service at the same time. At the time he had an almost identical 1250GS to mine but was thinking of going to the GSA instead and we had a nice chat about it. Super nice guy, one of those rare people who seems like an old friend even though you just met them. Real shame.

Such a sad thing to hear even though I have never met Kevin, but I have always enjoyed reading his Bike reviews over the last couple years and asking him questions. Cancer is the worst, and it takes the best people way to early, my condolences to his family and may you Rip Kevin.
