    Another great event on May 9th & 10th, 2020 .
Thumb of Michigan. Applegate MI 48401.
Great riding on 60 acres of private land. Well marked trails.
Free camping. If you don't like to camp or haul a lot of gear I have an extra house...heated..hot water..luxurious. Both Ripfest (my Spring ride) and Starbucks Rally (Fall) are always great fun events.
You are welcome to show up on Friday or stay an extra day Monday.

    What we do:

Sat 5/9 - This is our Dirt Day.

We ride the trails on my farm. Trails are scenic and well marked with GNCC course arrows. Go fast or putt putt. No rules, just be safe. All out dirt bikes are best. You can ride a MXer...no lights...no plate..no stickers..thats fine. Knobby tires are pretty much required but if you want to ride a vstrom with street tires thats Ok. Plated is nice because we do short gravel rides to lunch and scenic Lake Huron overlook. Saturday night we have a big fire, some riders drink beer or go to the corner bar. We have a party grocery store around the corner and premium ethanol free fuel about 5 miles away.

Sunday 5/10 - Gravel Scenic Touring Ride-

a 200 mile scenic loop of the thumb.
You need knobbies as we run a 50mph average. I am on a super tenere with e10 off road tires. No gps routes used. We are moving by 9am so you get to enjoy your hangover. We ride to breakfast return to farm to pickup any late sleepers, have a red bull break around 11am and then scenic ride, 90% gravel, 230 miles.
***If you ride a street bike, you are welcome to attend event. Lots of good street riding here and you usually can form a street group/ride.
I can offer advice but will be riding dirt- gravel for the weekend.
    Mark your calendars.
    Send me any questions.
    See you next Spring.
    Thanks, Doug

Send Doug a PM with the promise of a moldy bacon sammich and some cheap beer, and he'll give you the address. Those guys play banjos and like to camp. You've been warned....:deal

What he said. Doug likes two hearted ale from what I remember. Some people camp/rv, some stay in his extra house(me). I prefer that because I ride to and from the event and don't like to pack too much stuff.

Its a beautiful area. Nice breeze off Lake Huron, clean air, gravel roads for miles. Both days are great. Nice to ride around my trails on Sat and then explore on Sun. The weather has been perfect in May on all my rides so far.

Damn I hope things calm down in the next 30 days. I'll be REAL sad to miss this. Fingers crossed, and Doug stay healthy and look out for toilet paper thieves.

Yes. I signed up for 14 months of self isolation but on the other hand...a little known factoid about me is I am a big devo fan so if we can get some really colorful hazmat suits we might be able to pull this event off. My lovely ex-wife is taking me to court a few days prior to this event so if that gets cancelled we will have a reason.to celebrate with virus killing irish whiskey in our devo suits. I dunno yet. If you have a more exciting scenario please post up. On the good side of this is its very favorable to improved environment conditions and I have a 2nd dog now which is a sweetheart. Also firewood is selling well now ( maybe doomsday preppers ? ) and keeping me in diesel, sub sandwiches, craft beer, and those new mint kit kat bars. I hope everyone is good. Stay strong people.
