Mate, do you know if Canargo hotel has been rebuilt and open for business, since the fire a few years back?

Start Albury or Wodonga. Head to Stanley via Beechworth. Myrtleford - Stanley Road then left on to Yackandandah - Myrtleford Road. Right into Carroll's Road. Left onto Happy Valley Road (becomes Running Creek Road). Right onto Kiewa Valley Hwy. Left onto Redbank Mongan's Road (becomes Gundowring Road). Right onto to Lockhart's Gap Road. Left onto Omeo Hwy. (Can divert onto Yabba Rd which runs parallel to the Omeo Hwy but on the other side of the river). Right onto Murray Valley Hwy. Left onto Granya Road. Left onto Murray River Road and back to Albury Wodonga.

All tar. About a 300km loop. Roads stay damp on the Eastern side of the hills at this time of the year and you will see green moss patches. Go steady and you will be OK.

Last time I was there not long ago and talking to the shop owner,.. it's a matter of dollars. To keep the front as heritage listed will cost the consortium bigtime. That is essentially the hold up, but it probably will go thru....hope so.
I got 13 ltrs of petrol from the shop for free..wasnt charged... so I will go back and fix it up...excuse for a ride Dobbo..Keeef will join in I'm sure...all backroads and needs to be dry.

I got a similar story from the shop owner (Coffee? Nescafe or International Roast luv?.......... Still call in there though, just for the entertainment) and apparently the Council approvals are approved so just needs dollars injected as @UncleGra mentioned.

Few back tracks down that way. Mostly flat and straight, and the locals enjoy showing you around:

Pretty Pine Pub is only a bit further

Buy it Troy..you can do it..be strong..

On a return leg back home one dayI got bored with the Moulamein to Denni bit ..so I jumped on the powerline track for a good few miles..godforsaken country that is...headless horseman..

I didnt take a piccie of K'nargo pub when I was there...Cyclone fence all around it and looking very ratty.
    Terriffic schooll there tho.
If I go north from home it's usually to Jerilderie..fill up and then straight north to the railway line at Trida.

Not a lot of inspiring options out that way, although Hay to Balranald is some of the most uninspiring.
The photo out the ute windscreen above is north westish of Jerilderie.

I know it's a bit of a dilemma. I have been trying to cut down and have parted with a couple of my dearly beloved recently with no intentions to add any more to the flock but then through a chance conversation opportunity presents itself. What am I to do?

Yep been on it a couple of times... Next time I'll go from Jerilderie -Kidman way to Jerrys Ln and Fernbank. Can't illiminate the bitty from 4 corners up to Carathool. Was there with Tripod once on the way to Oulambeyan NP.

We use McClennons Bore and Mabins Well rd across the Steam Plains quite a bit heading to the Deni Rice Mill.

Whats at Oolambeyan NP? Worth the trip?

Oolambeyan is a property that's been aquired by NP..there was accomodation there, but at the time I think it was temporarily closed for the switch to public use. Worth a look.

I go via Wilson Rd from Jerilderie to McLennons Bore Rd--Fernbank...then west on 4 Corners Rd to Carathool Rd...cant avoid the boring bitty from 4 Corners to the 'bidgee. Then up to Carathool and keep going north.
We should organise a camp on the Bong at Wanganella.
