It's perpetually on. This week we are doing 'on the ground' research.
    Ruled out a coupla locations.

Proximity to Ranelagh Bakery is appealing.

Seem to be 1/2 a mill short of of having a lot of options :(

Given the free vehicle travel on the Spirit perhaps a ROAR real estate reconnaissance has potential.

My chain drive XS11 project has had a major shot in the arm.
    I bought one!

It's a stalled project, from Adelaide. Been stalled for more than a decade, it appears. Story goes there were plans to build a couple for P5 racing. Then Trevor Birrell got 170+ hp from a GSX engine and the XS project went on the back burner as non-competitive.
(Just waiting for a non-competitive rider to appear).
It was provided to a young bloke who had so much going on, it never progressed past the relocation of the various bits to another shed.

Then, this non-competitive rider found out about it last monday. Bought it on Wednesday.
Rolling chassis etc is here. Engine is in Adelaide.

    Starting at the ground.
    Dymag wheels
AP Lockheed front calipers mounted on custom carriers.
    TRX850 forks & triple clamps
R6 internals, still new in the wrappers, to be fitted.
Steering head altered to 22 deg rake.
    engine dis-assembled and cleaned.
    Bored to 1197cc.
Wiseco forged pistons - still in the box.
    Webb cams.
    Gear box cluster repaired.
35mm CR smooth bores, still in the box.
Frame widened and braced to fit the wide wheel and swinging arm
Swingarm pivot shifted with custom aluminium inserts
    GSX aluminium swinging arm.
Brembo rear caliper, still in the box.
Another box full of new parts - seals, gaskets, washers etc etc
    Chain drive conversion plates.
OEM seat in pretty crook condition.
Fuel tank that is said to be a low line version, made for racing. Not sure of that. I'll compare it to the others I have. Also said to be a factory tank. Maybe.

Obviously lots of things to still be bought. Cables, wiring, rear shocks, exhaust (I believe a copy will be made of the factory exhaust made from the original 1980 Pitmans Yamaha.

Down side is that it puts the finances into reverse. I was supposed to be saving for an engine to be done in the first instance. Now I need to save for the engine to be assembled.

Looks like there may be a bit of a clean out of bits that I may never get to.

    Photos later.

I should clarify the line "I bought one"
I was given the necessary support once it was learnt that the notion had the support / recommendation of certain parties in Adelaide.
The price was easily below the replacement costs of the whole lot, which I would've spent months trying to locate individually.
    It was a good buy.
Possibly at the wrong time but, why worry about that shit? Here for a good time. Reason to get out of bed.

Already booked mate. You gone round the corner from Ranelagh yet? Cygnet/Gordon/Woodbridge/Snug is a beautiful little slice of Tas, bonus is the Cygnet/Oyster Cove road (Targa Stage) and the Pelverata road. We spent a bit of time down the channel and across to Bruny recently and I was shocked at the amount of development and also the prices, but they still ain’t anywhere near mainland capital city level. No bastard would live in Electrona 20 years ago, now like you say you need a fat wallet. Take a day trip down to my old stomping ground at Forcett/Lewisham/Dodges Ferry. I can give you the number of a mad mate who is a motorcycle tragic and also a real estate agent, he’ll set you right with zero bullshit.

Seem to be wandering from culinary delight to culinary delight - like I need that :(

Can recommend the coffee from Abel Land in the city.

Was reminiscing over a few beverages and came across these pics which ties in with a conversation @tripodtiger and I were having on our recent ride to Mt Hope.
From memory this was a spur of the moment ROAR get together for an overnighter at 3 Mile Dam back in 2017 and one of only few overnight trips I did on the DRz before it was parked up awaiting rebuild. Good times :ricky .
Looking back through my pics there were so many great rides like this back then but unfortunately these days with life being so busy I have forgotten about most of them so over the coming months i am going to go back through them all and post some of my favorites which date back to around 2009 when I first joined this motley crew. :D
