You wish. But sorry, it ain't going to happen. It's in my backyard and I have a solid distaste for what these show offs do. Do you even ride in the Santa Monica Mountains?

I lived in SoCal for 25 years and rode everywhere there was to go. I didn't even own a car the first two years I was there. Bike only. I also did 5 years in Los Gatos in NorCal. Yes I have ridden these roads. I don't see this as showing off. I see it as good riders doing what they like to do...RIDE! You should try it sometime. It's kind of fun.

Tons of great riding up there, in fact I just rode there yesterday! I love canyon riding and first started going up in the Santa Monica Mtns. on a Yamaha R-5 cafe bike I built back in 1972. I raced it in the production class at Riverside, Willow Springs and Ontario. When I lived in Los Altos Hills, I rode Moody to Page Mill to Skyline to Woodside commuting to Canada College in on my Ducati GT750 4 days a week. I don't have a problem with riding the twisties at speed in un-populated areas, I do have a problem with riding back and forth doing the same turn all day long showing off for the crowd. It reminds me of this:

Alpine Road to PCH was my favorite run after a breakfast at Alice's. The best was passing guys on Ducatis on my DRZ. I miss NorCal riding a lot.

As I have posted earlier my love for SoCal roads (this being a mullholand thread) I have to agree NorCal roads are epic. Big basin is probably my favorite road to ride so far.

bigger question... did he sweep the gravel off the road that his crash put on it?

So what do you think happened? A little too much throttle at the apex? His lean angle didn't look "too" far really.

I know. I was thinking the same. And were spectators cautioning inbound riders to ease up while they dealt with the down bike and gravel?

There's something funky in the pavement. Many many bikes go off there like that.

I went through there a couple times this weekend and didn't notice anything funky.

I have been around that curve many times. Nothing wrong with the road.

I've been there many times myself and never crashed, but if you root through RNickey's videos there are SO SO MANY crashes right there it makes me suspect.

Riders run out of talent right there. They tend to get distracted by being too worried as to how they look for the photographers and spectators.

you must not be dragging the right bikes, or going for your best lean angle for the camera.

Hey, he ^^^ gets props from me for owning his stupidity and apologizing. These bystanders should STFU, it was between the two guys involved and it looks like they are OK with it.
