Some rides naturally lend themselves to a theme. Our plan was take 13 riders through country we hadn't been in before, on a weekend with an extreme weather warning. It probably would have been fine if it hadn't been for the bush fire and flood damage from a few years ago.... lets just say we saw many road closed signs on tracks that our 3 year old maps said were still open.
Bairnsdale to Swifts Creek and back
    But first, a group photo

it didn't take long to find a few obstructions- heavy winds and fire damage had dropped a few logs across the tracks. If you can't ride over it then ride around it

or just move it. Many hands make light work. We carry hand saws for the logs that are too thick to break.

Some times it's just much easier to ride around an obstruction

Now I'm not normally one for going around locked gates, but when a short section of track is closed for maintenance sometimes it's easier to sneak past. We looked long and hard but couldn't find a way...

Hmm, maybee if we put those hay bales beside the shed we could squeeze the bikes through...

eventually we decided that although we COULD possibly get through, we probably shouldn't. Oh well, it was a great track so we turned around and did it again.

Only to find a few more trees down later on

so, why would anyone bother riding around all those obstructions?

Truth is it's magical country- steep rocky hills and great views

and them we found the best track of the day - I was too busy weaving around all the fallen trees to stop and take photos, but it was single line heaven. About 10 k's of overgrown hilly country with trees down everywhere. A great way to finish a ride off.

and some bikes just couldn't hack the pace:evil turns out vice grips work really well as brake levers.
