If that goes through I reckon Woody'll be spending the night in the yard with a loaded shotgun in case anyone gets any ideas about midnight strolls with their tool kits..... :lol3

Edit...hoping to have new wheels for this one. 990 is 95% sold....just waiting on shipping confo and a final exchange and she's off to her new home.

LOL!...some of them are jumping ship....Orange Kool-aid is irresistible! I'll most likely be on a KTM 450 or 525/530. Looking to do a tidy little rally build in the spring.

Looking forward to the rally season kicking off. For this one, and because of deadly's love of water crossings, I'll have to be a bit more mindful. Where the 690 was good for middle of the seat depths I don't think the 500 will be as accomodating.

Less water crossings on the route than in previous years. Distance is a bit longer. Doable

Oh I didn't say no water...still a couple of dozen. One douzy of a section nicknamed "the mud slide"...unquestionably there will be a slew of photos from it :evil

The bulk of the route consists of some fun double track trails connected by paved and gravel roads. 400-700 Cc bike kind of terrain, doable by skilled big bike riders (maybe :rofl )

hmm will the modified G/S do it?

Wilbers 633 on the way for the ass end, hopefully it will keep up to the WP4860forks on the front. it's only 185kilos!

but seriously... is it total abuse on such a bike... then there is the 570 if it does not sell.

Tough call. As the old saying goes its the rider not the machine. There are sections where the dirt bike would be the bike of choice, the bulk of the route is fine for the airhead...likely a few spots where you would wish to be on the smaller bike...I know its not much of an answer but I hate to say this bike will be fine. I've seen some incredible people ride the most inappropriate bikes and whoop everyone else...I've also seen some folks on tricked out off road bikes who don't know how to ride. Make sense?

    Airheads and water?

Well between normal riding with my gang of KLR abusers, Last years RR and the Dacre, I've become quite confidant on the water crossings....and now that I won't be on a 990, I won't be worried about spending 3-4hrs trying to dry it out if i go down....which was my biggest concern. It'll also be nice not to have to get 2 other dudes to help lift your bike :D

Yeah right I see that bit of orange around the point. What is that a KTM "boat" foundering on the rocks? :lol3
Is this one of the small water crossings??
