Intriguing... Does EXPEDITION mean I should not sell my 650 for a 450 over the winter?

Planning is well underway for the 2018 Roaming Rally, and here' what we're working on:

For 2018 we have decided to go back to oir roots a bit with an expedition theme, less technical terrain and more remote places with mandatory camping (due to remoteness).

There will be two Roaming Rallies which is new for 2018. One will be held in late May and will be a 3-4 day route in Ontario and Quebec. The second Roaming Rally we're working on will be 7-10 days in length and will cross the mountains of western Canada (the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia).

Final details will be finished in the next few weeks and will be available on the website. Space will be limited due to the logistics so register early if you intend to join us on one of these expeditions.

Bikes and trucks will both travel the same routes in 2018 which we are excited about.

Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.

Time to make friends with the truck guys... so they can carry the beer for us into the remoteness! :lol3

A gratuitous pic of warmer times to help get us thru the winter!

Can you tell us the dates that you're going to use for the May event? I've got some planning to do on that front.

Ditto. Are you guys looking at May 26/27? I have to get leave on the calendar pretty far in advance so I don't leave my work team hanging. New to Ottawa and looking forward to getting the big-ger bike out (my new 690).

I'm going to X that weekend off the family calendar to make sure the Mrs. doesn't plan anything less adventurous.

The Ontario/Quebec rally will be May 24-27, and the West coast dates will be June 11-20.

    Is It May Yet?

The website has nothing on the 2018 version. I cannot book dates if I don’t know anything about it. Do you know when it will have some info?

Patience, patience...We are polishing up the rough draft now and it will be up on the website in the next few days...it will be worth the wait!

In the mean time, here's a pic of basecamp during warmer times when there's not 3 feet of snow on it! Man I hate winter!

So, just for background - this is a "bigger bike" friendly ride right? I'm new, so getting accustomed to new language. A bunch of US "dualsports" are 450cc and below - with most guys on 250 two strokes with tags.

I've got one of those too - but hoping to really break in the new 690!

690's are generally very capable of doing about 80-90% of the trails around here.... depending on the rider of course :deal I mean, shit, if you're Chris Birch you could probably do it all on a Goldwing and be fine. :D
A nicely set up late model 500 exc would likely leave you with more energy at the end of the day, but that's going by what RR has been in the past. Not sure whats in store this year, but I am well familiar with the area and outside of a few gnarly ass, Hard Enduro tracks, I've managed just fine on the 690. I say Giver!
