Smiles all around, ! Super cool!!
What - you were in the neighborhood and didn't call? You just on a road trip? While you are out and about look for Norm's Raggety Ass IPA - one of my new faves made in MI. Thank me later...
I'm sure you enjoyed Ludington. Nice place to visit. I spent years there at the Coast Guard Station, which is now a museum. There are some really beautiful parts of this state and that is one of them.
Dan, I would have called if it were only me traveling. With the extended family, it was all about us as we live far apart.
Ludington is very nice, especially the State Park.
We head home tomorrow, so I will be riding again soon.
Glad you could all get together! Still love Chicago. Ludington looks like a good time too. When we disembarked from the ferry there we were off and running northward, so didn't explore much. Whenever you're up for exploring Michigan on two wheels, let me know. Hopefully this COVID crap has an ending soon.
BTW, the beer sounds fine, but "Frank Lloyd Light" seems to be waiting for a beer.....just sayin'
You took the Badger across the lake? That is quite the adventure. I'm happy that the gov't made an exception to their rules to allow this old carferry to continue it's runs. I don't think there are any old coal fired ships left in regular service other than her.
Great family shot Bill!
Now that I am home, and Rocket is in good shape, I thought it would be a good time to service the old scooter.
I checked my notes on Fuelly and found that it has been 8000 miles since the last belt change and 4000 since the last oil change.
So I did both, including rollers with the belt and a filter with the oil.
New variator nut and clutch nut too.
It helps that I keep a slew of spare parts on the garage.
Having two or three of the same bike helps with the cost of spare parts!
In my spare parts bin are four liters of oil, maybe ten oil filters, several exhaust gaskets, three belts, a few sets of rollers and guides, two variators and outer drive plates.
Also three spark plugs, two spark plug caps, one coil, petcock, fuel pump, etc.
Plus one whole Vespa GT that is for parts only.
Oh, Rocket’s old engine, just in case I want to do a full restoration.
I am getting ready for another 7 Bridges Scooter Club ride, starting next Thursday.
Russ had been hearing about how much Ken and I like going to the Jacaranda in Avon Park.
So he made that the fall trip this year.
Because I have made the trip many times, I will lead the 225 mile ride down.
Rides planned include a loop of Lake Okeechobee and a smaller ride to Sebring Raceway and Henscratch Farm Winery.
I plan to ride Rocket, giving the old guy its first long ride since the steering was repaired.
There are 14 riders signed up. Anyone wanting to meet us there will be welcome.
Club ride from a few years ago to Satchmo's Pizza in Gainesville.
is there an itinerary by day?
what day will you be traveling home?
where will you be staying?
sounds like a wonderful rally
We ride down on Thursday, arriving in Avon Park at around 3:00
Loop Lake Okeechobee on Friday.
Local rides Saturday.
Head back to Jacksonville at 9:00 Sunday.
I just picked up Vanessa from Chris' shop.
We had replaced the waterpump when replacing the engine a few months ago.
I bought it from Scooter Parts Co., along with the three studs.
After two thousand miles, the waterpump was making increasingly loud, ugly noises.
Chris pulled the pump to find it to be ok but the rubber on the studs was worn off, allowing them to rattle, making the noise.
New Piaggio studs from Scooter West and it is running like new again.
Because the scooter was on the shop, I had Chris replace the turn signal switch, install an old Leo Vince exhaust (I wanted the other one for Razzo) and fix a broken connector on the speedometer cable that was causing it to stop working intermittently.
For the first time in a while, all five scooters are mechanically perfect.
That's fantastic and the cooler days are coming
Just checked in on Big Bad Bill is Sweet William now's thread and as I expected he sets the bar for others to follow. I really love the updates and congrats for making the front page!

Thank you, Eric,
I keep posting here, trying to entertain the five or six readers who check in periodically.
But mostly as a record for me to remember the good times.
I will be posting during this week’s group ride.
It should be fun, but Ken and I go there for the comfort of the Jacaranda and dining at 18 East and the taquerias.
Our rides are good too, but we go there to get away.
With changes these days, it will be different.
there are a lot more than five or six folks who thoroughly enjoy what it is you have to say and show to us
the things that come out of your mouth always put a smile on people's faces
that's a wonderful trait to have
I'll be back in CFL around the beginning of the month. Hopefully I'll be able to get to some of the club rides, and/or meet up again with you and Ken.
That sounds great, Bruce.
Ken is currently out of scooter riding, but should be back on one of his red scooters in November.
He will be ready to ride then, so we should give it a try.
