I will only be in town two nights and something is planned for every minute, so I won't be able to take advantage of your advice on the restaurants.

I will keep the information for a visit when we have time to spare.

As for Milton, my mother's family is from that area. I believe my great grandmother and grandmother were born there. My Florida roots grow deep.

The family had a compound on Blackwater Bay that was destroyed by a hurricane years ago.

My mother's first cousin, Hurley Manning, was the coach of the Milton High School football team for many years and state championships.

Their stadium is named after him.

I need to go back and visit Pensacola and Milton some time. I lived there twice. First time was 84-86 for Aviation Officer candidate school in Pensacola and Flight training in Milton. I met my wife in Pensacola. Then I went back for a couple of years from 90-92. My son was born there. It's probably been at least 15-20 years since my last time back. I wonder how much it has changed.

I have always found this format to be way better than blogs. A forum is a two way conversation while a blog is a one way lecture. Besides being more interesting these threads have allowed me to make many friends. I have met some of those friends in person, I will meet the others in the future.

Thanks Bill for your posts and writeups. I know I will be envious reading about rides as I sit here in VT over the winter. We took advantage of some nice weather the last few days.

I don't know about that. You forget that some of us have actually met you and know that's not true. You recently spent a month in Maggie Valley, living in a travel trailer and riding the area on your scooter. That's what I want to do when I grow up!

You should ride down tomorrow (Thursday).

I will be riding over to visit with many scooter friends I met there in two previous UnRallies.

I will only be staying Thursday and Friday nights as Kylie will be coming home for a wedding.

Visiting with her is even better than riding. (riding with her is the best of all)

I think between rides and your expert mechanical skills, along with an interesting work history, you will get plenty of activity here with a blog.

I got a message from Ruedi today. He was out riding our scooter in Switzerland.

I will definitely be planning a trip there next year so I can enjoy the scenery on the scooter.

Switzerland is an amazingly beautiful country.

I have driven in much of It, but have never seen it from a scooter.

And on a scooter is the best way to see any country.

    next year....

Wow! That is some scenery! Start planning a group ride there, Bill. I'd do that without a doubt!

It looks like a tropical storm is going to hit Pensacola today with rain and wind the next two days.

The only way I can get home and avoid the weather is to leave early, like now.

So it was a fun, one dinner, UnRally for me this time.

At least I got to see some friends.

    I won’t miss any of Kylie’s visit.

With Dad in the hospital, it is better to be home anyway.

Beat the weather and made it home.

Just under 6 hours for 360 miles, all on I-10.

The Xmax was in its element. Smooth and fast, running easily with the cars.

I thought I would test the top speed on a downhill part of I-10 west of Tallahassee. Drafting a truck, it hit 93 mph (gps). It’s normal unassisted top speed is 82, 83. Just fast enough.

And with all of its storage, all of my stuff was in the under seat bin.

Dad gets hospice care starting tonight. He was a bit confused today, but alert and mostly himself while waiting to be transported.

it was good to see him.
