I got home at 8pm, great ride, 430 miles round trip. A big thanks to the ride committee for laying out an awesome route. Ran into the group from Danville at Bubbas BBQ. We still have the south to north route to run at a later date.

I got home about 11:00 am today. I took 31E up to Bardstown. There was no traffic and not a lot of rain. From there I got on the BG Parkway where it was pouring rain, cold and wind.

Here are a few pics I took on the ride

I must say even though the weather was an issue the turnout was impressive. Had a great time, thanks again to Mark and the boys for putting together a fantastic route! Good to see old friends and meet new ones! Hope everyone got home OK especially the Hoosiers from up around Indy, I know they had a long, cold, dark ride back, sure hope it wasn't in the snow...

Thought I should add a few pics as well

Just riding slow and enjoying the nice day

Thought I had one more of Mike but ???

Josh having a little trouble with Anthony's tire plug kit, it was funny!

Crossing the river in the park was great even though the water was up pretty high

Gabor (forgive me if I screwed up your name)was enjoying himself as usual!

    So was Josh

Finally at Ralph's place and time for a few cold ones around the fire

We got back to Indy around 1:30AM dry but frozen, very tired and sore.
After we crossed the river it got much colder.
We stopped 20 miles from Indy for gas and it was hard to climb back on the saddle. From there it seemed every mile the temperature dropped 1F.
    I rode 530 miles yesterday.
I was fully committed to make this ride both way,but this time Mother Nature won.Still it was a lot of fun, thanks for making it happen. Was very nice to see old friends and to meet new ones.
My hats off to Paul and Amy!!!!!:clap

I figured about 9 hours Sattle time and almost 600 miles. The last 211 i65. I became impressed by riderin klr's highway abilities. we ended up stopping 2 times on way home though. Sucked but a good first "real ride" of the year.

Oh ya, we had the law at our cabin last night...

State had a road block setup at the intersection in front of the cabins.
He was waving his light at us to stop but we whipped into the cabins
before we got to their little check point. He jumped in his squad car
and lit er' up and was in hot persuit all of the 30 yards across the yard.
He jumps out and says, from back there them look like full fledged dirt bikes!
I say, why yes they are, and factory street legal too! He shines his light
on the plates and asked a few more questions and went back to his barricade.
    He was quite friendly.

I really hope there is a second attempt at this ride. I was hoping to meet you guys and check out the route.

Glad you guys had a good showing and it sounds like everyone stayed safe....cold on the last miles home...but safe. I can relate, I didn't feel ready to make my first ADV ride the same 600 mile route that nickgindy did, so I did a 360 mile solo ride in southern indiana instead. I made an attempt at my first ride report...verbage and pics....and posted it in the link shown below....didn't think I should clutter up this thread with stuff from a basically unrelated ride. Check it out if you wish and if something smells heavily of "newbie", let me know!

Hats off to all that actually rode this weekend, you all really got some sack (well except Amy).

Couldn't make it this weekend, but hopefully the weather turns soon so I can roll the old klx out.

I regretted having to bail out of this ride. I saved the GPS tracks and plan to ride all of it when the weather moderates a little milder for us guys that have bodies and bone joints that complain in cold weather.

I'm not ready to set a personal date when I will do the "Redux"...wonder if there are more riders thinking along the same thoughts?

I think we had a very good turn out for the 2013 Icebreaker considering the Sunday forecast.

A group of Louisville area riders meet up in New Albany for the I-64 ride over to St. Croix. On the way to Waffle House I see Josh stopped on the side of the Interstate on an elevated section with a 2' shoulder. Good start I'm thinking, 5 miles from home and we're already one man down. Seems he forgot to fuel up before he got on the road....there's always one guy. :bluduh

He got going again just as Anthony blasted by and Josh was able to sputter on over the bridge into Indiana to breakfast.

    Anthony having a good laugh...

Also seem his engine was over heating (39 degrees) so off he goes to the gas station down the road to get some anti-freeze. We other guys had a nice breakfast while we watched Josh take apart his bike through the window. Ray was there to give him plenty of help.

Met up with Don from Columbus at the first gas stop.

Now get this...He trailered his TU-250 down from home to the Cabins. Blasted north and met up with us near Hardinsburg, rode to the Cabins for the night and was then all set to trailer back in the rain & snow.

    Don & Gabor.

We decided to stop for dinner at a Mexican joint that Anthony and I tried on a scouting mission back in January. Ray, Barry and I pull in and seems the others had stopped at a dollar store so Josh could add to his ear bud collection, at least that's what we thought.

Seems Anthony picked up a nail or something and had a flat. They tried his Aerostich plug kit but they had trouble figuring it out, so Barry (I think??) lent them his more standard string repair kit and the finally joined us.

We arrived at the Cabins a bit behind most because of the flat. Nick, Kevin, Gabor and Adam decided to grab a bite and then slabbed it back to Indy. Well done guys, that's a long day in any book!

Since our group had already eaten, we proceeded to get our drink on...

What happened in the bunk house stayed in the bunk house...

Sunday AM Anthony left very early after having coffee with Ralph & Lina.

Mark (the lone tent camper) headed north to home near E-town.

Ray & Tim left for Louisville.

Paul and Amy stayed true and took road north to Bedford.

Josh, Don and I headed to the Watermill for a very good breakfast. Several locals asked questions and wished us a safe ride home.

Not too bad a ride back, rain seemed to fall off after this gas stop. Sure glad I had my electric liner and gloves!

Always smiling! Thanks for all the help Josh!

Not a complete busted weekend and seems everyone had a pretty good time.

We'll see what kind of interest we get for next year. Maybe after Easter????
