I'm thinking we should do this ride again as soon as it warms up.

I have heard several say the same thing. A good weekend with warm weather would have a huge turnout..

I agree, we need to do this ride again after it warms up. I will even get a room and ride back on Sunday :clap

and I mean warm, like in June/July. There is no guarantee the weather will be warmer in April.
I was warm with all my gear on, but heck, who wants to dress like the Michelin man on all the rides.

I am going to hijack the thread for a sec. A number of you guys had a GPS which you could upload .gpx files to (the garmin I have does not upload files into it). Could you guys PM me the type/model of the GPS units you were using. I am going to upgrade in the future.:evil

Lots of talk of redoing this ride. There's many ways to handle it I suppose. Mbabc could claim it as his route and set the date but I gather he's not the controlling type.Someone can just say when they're going and who ever can join can get on board,or perhaps a poll could be started with various date options. The winning date is the official re-do and those of us not available can try to round up a few other inmates and go at their own timing?. Other ideas? Opinions?

Spoke to Ralph about a redo. He said in prime tourist season it would be hard to reserved all the cabins but camping in just fine.

I don't have any say more than anyone else. Just pick a dry, warm (not hot) weekend. I probably will meet up after riding the interstate after work on Saturday to the cabins and ride north as I have to take vacation days for Saturdays.

Want some of the Pig badly.

When are you cleared to ride again?
    I still say April 20-21. I don't want to wait 2 months.

Yup. That weekend is for family. Not saying we won't all go ride bikes. And watch the 500.

I used my Android phone (Motorola Atrix 2) along with the app "Dual Sport Maps" The app was $20 (but worth it) and the Ram mount crap was another $30. I already had a phone charging setup for the KLR.

It worked most excellently excellent. There is a bit of a learning curve to climb with the app, but it's incredibly simple once underway. There's a map. The arrow is you. Follow the blue line. It's not distracting at all, if you have a bit of discipline, and doesn't require any interaction.

Also, I want to give a big shout-out to mbabc for the FANTASTIC and AMAZING routes. I thought I knew Southern Indiana backward and forward, but as it turns out I guess I'm just an occasional tourist... :cry

Of course no hard feelings if the group goes when I can't, but here's my vote since I'm not available 4/20-4/21 or 4/27-4/28. Any of these probably work for me:
    5/11-5/12, 5/18-5/19, 6/1-6/2, 6/15-6/16, 6/22-6/23.

FYI, I think an Indiana gravel type ride (Vstrom/GS friendly) may pop up on 5/5 so I advise we avoid that weekend. It is being organized by someone else and I know nothing but the date. I don't yet know if it's open invite. If it is I'll share info on the indiana ride thread.
