    3/8" split loom, zip tied.
    I like it neat.

Took a couple of fender washers and squared off the bottom, and cut a same size rubber washer to match.

Took a punch to the washer on a vice to put a bend in it.

Here is the new mounting to capture the windshield on the backside. I used 6mm X 30 Allen head with a locking nut on the back side.

    This captures the windshield nicely.
    A note to Clearview.....
You get a lot of $$$ for your windshield, and provide crap mounting. It's not that we can't do it by ourselves, but should we have to?
    Seriously???

I won this Motopocket at the DV NOOBS rally. It fits the inside of my HT panniers lid perfectly!
I sent a thank you note to Bob Allen from Motopockets along with my plans for a northbound trip. Bob surprised me by offering a free windshield pocket for my trip!

Meanwhile....I stopped by the local thrift shop and got a pair of crutches and cut them down for the ever popular trail jack.
    $3 for the two.

Today I decided to add a little layer of protection to the tank for the tank bag.

I just took my time and laid it out in pieces. I think I paid $12 for that while roll of clear contact paper.

My tank is actually pretty scratched up. I just want to save what's left of it. I laid down two coats of turtle wax and then this.

This thing is an oil change away from being ready to roll for distance.

Last project before departure. I used some of the leftover crutch material That I made the trail jacks with.

I made an adjustable front brace for tying down the front end so I don't blow the fork seals. My $3 crutch investment went a long way....
