My SO and I are planning a road trip to the Toad Rock campground on the July first long weekend.
This is Sandra's first motorcycle trip, so I don't want to just dash down and dash back. We will be part of a group when (if) we get there, but I would like do the ride at her pace. It isn't really important that we get there, only that she have a few good days of riding.
    Route suggestions?
    Restaurant suggestions?
    Camping/Hotel?Motel suggestions?
    We are both riding GS's mine 2003 GSA her's 2004 GS650

    I'd go this way:

Spend the night at the St. Eugene Mission outside Cranbrook. What's going on at Ainsworth? I went riding to Nelson 3 times last year....I will probably be coming through that way on that weekend.

    Not sure.
We will both be running fairly new Tourance tires, and typically I mule most of our gear on the GSA, so Sandra's GS is still fairly nimble and mine handles like a pig.

    The event is

and we will probably be keeping company with some "lifestyle" motor cyclists while we are there.

The most important part of the trip is not "getting there". I want Sandra to enjoy the trip.

Settler's road - turn off HWY 93 - 20 or 30 km before you get to Radium:

or, if you go through Revelstoke, stay on the west side of Upper Arrow Lake to Arrow Park, take the ferry across, ride HWY 31A:

Grey Creek Pass could be a little tough on a new rider. If it's wet anywhere, stay on the pavement.
