Yup same thing here. Feels like surging or yo-yo'ing? I get it in lower gears at around 4k rpm the most but it creeps up elsewhere. Playing with the TPS help a little bit. It freaked me out at first but having heard from others here that it's relatively common put me at ease. Just one of the little quirks that make us Himma owners unique.

Dont mind if I take the piss, cant remember listening to this in my School.

The difference on both of the Cam Charts is 20% ( increase of course and the Torque slightly less ) so Its 20% overall or peak or whatever.
It didnt matter whether you look at the horse or cart first (HP or Torque) the gain is about 20%

So my chart shows a gain of 40%, granted it doesent show Torque!

Bad as I am at Math, 40 is double 20.

If you take a look at the Cam shaft HP chart you can see the original dips at around 4300 and again at 4800RPM could that be the Culprit ?

Could be the one Hitchcocks off with their cam. They have just opened up where the airbox snorkel is. An easy DIY jobbie. No good for traveling through water.

I believe RE dealers can reflash the ECU with a new update to smooth this out.

Actually you will get 20% with one mod, which means you will have 120% then you will get another 20% on top of that , so you will have 144%, so looks like you didn't get much rithmetic at school either.
But 44% extra makes it look like the guy who designed the Hima motor didn't know as much as the average back yard bodger, anyone know who he was?
I"ll have the air box cover if it is not gone yet!

When in high school, my buddy and I co-owned a VW 6 volt beatle.

we poured over the Warshowski catalog: 5 hp gain with the fancy condenser, 10 from the alloy generator pulley, 30 from the zooms muffler, and so on.

we figure we could build a 300 hp bug for two hundred bux of bolt in bits and bobs.

    good thing we were broke.

Sold to the Highest bidder ! 144% might be a bit greedy so Ill settle for a 50% HP increase .
I recon that guy your talking about was thinking about his Job (which was probably to build something that would last )
Me, the backyard Bodger Im not restrained like him so WTF YOLO.

I'll have to go see if that can be done. The wait-list for service though is crazy right now. Might just have to wait till after the season!

I love the sound of the Delivery Van door sliding open, I can it pick it up from a reasonable distance ( would have said a mile 20 years back ! ) first world thing?
These days we have online Tracking and My Cam is nearly 2 days in Perth after clearing customs so my ears are pricked for the sound of that door.
It spent 4 days in Amsterdam ( Lucky Cam ) before what appears to be a direct flight!
My special Thanks to DHL and Mr H in advance. 40 plus 20 equals 50 ! ? gotta be close.

Thats a 30HP Himma or :kboom

Looking at the gains in the Rev range I use the cam doesent shine that much,
The real gains are in the Flogging part of the range for me. ( where the Charts get made )
1 HP at 3000rpm and less than 2 at 4000, it only really kicks in after 4500RPM
Torque wise, again the greater gains are after 4500 rpm and look good!
Ive nearly bored it out as far as it will go ( for now ) so whats next?

Perhaps someone will market a Blower Kit.

It's too bad Honda didn't incorporate the 270 degree firing order of the Africa Twin. Would have lots of - correction, some character and 500cc is such a nice size. I test rode one and yeah, did nothing for me.

There I fixed it... hmmm, might still be a bit optimistic :lol2

I think that "character" and "reliability" are sometimes (often?) the inverse of each other.

So true Captain. Although I have a '99 Mazda Miata that has both. I'll be testing your theory soon because I'm going to be replace it with a Boxster. I hope I don't regret it.

Your new job, engine development for Honda. They have always been reliable and last a long time. I also looked at the Honda 500x nice bike, smooth did everything ok, bought a 650 vstom instead. Does not have the x factor of the Himma though. Now if you could put the 500x motor into a Himma that would interesting. Should have 477 hiima by the weekend. :hide
