    What great scenery. Have read about it but looks why nicer with you pictures. Great choice of bike.:clap In the future you need to come New Zealand and ride here, great scenery and roads as well.

    To hold the spacers in place i use Blu Tac. As long as it's rolled nice and warm it works. Suppose chewing gum would work too

    Hi guys, does anyone know if any of the other model RE seats can fit onto the Himalayan? I'm specifically looking for a solo rider seat.

    My butt would like something cushy like this one. I have a pillion box on in place of the pillion seat so most of the upgrade aftermarket seats don't work without more customization!
    What model RE is in this photo?

    I have had the Boosterplug on my 2020 Australian RE Himalayan Euro4/BS4 for two days now.
    The bike has standard air filter and standard exhaust.

    The only problem I had was stalling when cold.
    The bike would require choke and a little throttle to start and run while cold. It would stall on idle and starting off if I was not careful.
    Now with no choke and no throttle it starts and idles at 1100 rpm and idle goes to 1200 when it warms up. It does not stall on takeoff.

    I also had vibration between 3700 and 4400 rpm. This is 70% smoother and unexpected.
    Makes 3000 to 6500 more 'roll on' useable.

    Gear changes both up and down are smoother and I am on and off the clutch quicker.
    This perplexes me a bit.
    I am also slipping the clutch a lot less. I did not realise I was doing this so much and had to stop myself.

    Generally the whole bike (EFI, engine, gearbox) feels smoother.
    The marketing saying it makes the bike more rideable is on the mark.

    I think the marketing comparison to Power Commanders is a distraction and makes some people think the BP is a performance mod. It is not.
    It just makes the bike into what it should have been straight out of the factory.

    Is it worth the US$160 (AU$235) ? To me, yes.

    I will run it for a week to confirm no 'learning' is occurring and report back.
    Learning = the ECU is applying the correction from closed loop mode to open loop and reverting the fueling to standard.

    I agree that Mr. Egan is probably the best moto-journalist of all time. Between his "literature" style of expressing the often intangible aspects of motorcycling, and Kevin Cameron's more technical articles, IMO, they MADE Cycle World. Really saddened to see the demise of the print publication. :(

    Good article, and echoes much of how I feel about mine. With the exception of the seemingly common stalling issues. Mine doesn't have that. Maybe a couple of times, but not enough that I would have even thought about it if I hadn't read of other's issues with stalling. It's never been an "issue" with mine though.

    And several things he said echoed my thoughts and feelings about the Himalayan. Like, "If somebody had told me 10 years ago"... In fact, I believe that I may have made a very similar statement in this thread some time back.... Hell, I even understand his comment about buying a second one just to have a spare... Over the time I've owned mine I've come to realize that after all these years of riding, I may have finally found the perfect motorcycle. Granted, if your idea of riding is doing mile upon mile droning down the interstate, there are far better bikes. I agree with his interpretation of that as well, so this isn't really a shortcoming for me. And the Himalayan does everything that I actually do, very well. It is superb as a street bike. At least for those that have outgrown the adrenaline junky side of motorcycling. And is more capable in really bad terrain than it has any right to be. I've had mine in places I had no right to take such a bike, and it shrugged it off like it was nothing. I don't intend to take it back on that particular trail, but the experience of that trip made me really comfortable in taking the Himalayan places that I'd likely not take most other bikes. And definitely not other bikes that aren't more dedicated off-road style dual sports. Just a really, really well rounded machine for the way I ride.

    Hey everyone. First post on the himilayan thread. I just got my 2020 a week ago and it only had 384 miles on it. I kept my Mosko Moto Scout 25L bags from my last bike and bought the RE pannier racks for them.

    I installed the racks last night. Not too bad but the front mounting point is a bit off. Anyway, to my question. The exhaust is way to close to my bags. I have a heat shield on the way but as things are there isn’t enough room between the exhaust and plate for that to fit. I took off the exhaust mount and it can be lowered just enough (if I create a new bracket). How much can the exhaust be “lowered” before I need to heat it up and actually bend it?

    Hope that made sense. I’ll attach some pictures. The left side is with the mosko plate at it lowest setting(best for getting in and off) and the right side is the plate at it highest setting and still touching the exhaust.

    The exhaust can be "turned or twisted" inward.

    Loosen the clamp at the pipe and remove the bolt at the hanger, then install washers between the bike's bracket and the hanger plate that's part of the muffler. Doing this essentially twists the muffle inward and the limit will be when it gets close the brake caliper. Just make sure the caliper won't hit the muffler when the shock is compressed.

    Sounds like you've found much the same benefits as I have. The gearchange thing is the most unexpected improvement, but a very welcome one all the same. And i didn't think it was bad before. I just think it's better now! :clap
