Sweet little test ride. All good.
Been thinking and working on this for some time. All going well and the virus thing is sorted out.
The plan - to ride my Winnie around Australia. Leaving my home on the 8th of September 2021.
Be near Perth WA on the 23rd September to head north along the inland highway. This ride will take 40 days to return to home. I will be going from my home via/near Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Fitzroy Crossing, Darwin, Mt Isa, Cairns, Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney to end at home.
This will not be a charity ride or such like as I did with PAMS ride. It’s just a thing I want to do for the 70th year since Winifred Wells did the ride.
There’s a fair chance I’ll ride the Trans service road from Kingoonya to Kalgoorlie just cause it’s there.
I’m expecting to do mostly camping and free boarding with those I meet along the route or ones that offer a bed for the nite. I’m not into tourist sites just to ride and meet/chat to new people.
My figures tell me it’s some 13,000klm with a rest day or so it will be some 350?klm a day.
more info to come as time moves on.
All the very best to all and stay safe
Sounds like an amazing adventure! I hope you'lol do a full trip thread, and will post a link here. I'd definitely read it!
Thought I’d need some sort of design to put on my T shirt/jacket or what ever. If you have some ideas your welcome to sketch them out, as long as I can use it or a variation of it as I see fit. Thanks
Yes Winifred is spelt wrong.
Bit of etch primer and paint it on the nose of the chair. Looks better than good. Backed up by some action.
In the process of making old scool bolt and nut closing system for air cleaner box. The key lock of original is a pain and won’t work all the time(as with Winnies) waiting on head to bolt to dry/cure? I can then shape, paint and finish of. Progress photos
Speaking of air filters, I got annoyed by the time it was taking me to get the bolt back in when changing/cleaning the filter, so I have modified it a little bit, saves me throwing tools around the workshop
Put a battery in Winnie this day. Took only a few turns to fire up. She’d not been started since the Karuah rally in February this year. I did some other little maintenance tasks then gave her a bath. All the best to all. No photos.
