Bought this yesterday. What have I done!!!!! Not my first trials bike but the first since 1993 when my last one broke my left ankle and caused me to be carrying 4 screws around for the rest of my life. This one will just be used for fun on mine and the neighbour's property. This one is a 1976 TY175. My last one was a 1973 TL 125 Honda.

Cute. I'd have fun with that too. Interesting to note how much technology has changed not just everywhere else but on motorcycles as well. Have fun with this bugger!

Yesterday; Oct. 23rd. was a beautiful fall day in southern Ontario. Sunshine and a predicted 70 degree temperature. So of course I went for a ride. A six hour day long ride. I started with no plan but it evolved into a dead people; dead pets; last bits of colour; lunch; beer and a train sighting ride. I left home and went south to Aylmer where I filled the BMW with fuel. South of Aylmer I stopped at the Catholic "Queen of Peace" cemetery for a pic for that thread.

I continued south for about a mile and turned east on John Wise Line towards Luton. I stopped for a pic of some of the quickly disappearing colour at a tree that still has most of it's leaves. In our area the leaves are falling fast and soon the trees will all be bare for the winter months.

    ride27 004.jpg

    ride27 005.jpg

Beyond Luton i rode to the intersection of John Wise Line and Richmond Road. Along this stretch I passed the Calton Swamp wildlife area and a nice place with old John Deere tractors as lawn art.

At Richmond Road I turned north to ride the beautifully curving and up and down road for the four miles to the Village of Richmond. This road crosses two bridges where I stopped for pictures for the "bike at a bridge thread". The second bridge has a metal grate deck which is very slippery and dangerous to all vehicles when it is wet. The road is a favourite with bicycle riders and several have had bad crashes on the wet bridge deck.

At Richmond I turned right on Heritage Line which takes you east to Straffordville and the intersection of Vienna Line.

At Straffordville I turned north on Vienna Line towards Eden and Tillsonburg.

On Vienna Line I have passed this sign multitudes of times and never paid it much attention. Today I decided to investigate further and took the short ride down Ridge Line.

It is common knowledge that most of us love pets and to some they are like our children. This cemetery caters to those who want a serene peaceful setting for their pets to rest in eternity. I wandered around for about half an hour and found the setting very calming. It is amazing the different markers and monuments people put up for loved animals.

I backtracked to Vienna Line and continued north through Eden and Tillsonburg.

This has to be one of, if not the oldest standing water towers in Ontario.

    ride27 035.jpg

I continued north on Cranberry Line to Ostrander Road where I went east to Springford and had a quick picture opportunity at the cemetery.

    ride27 036.jpg

    ride27 037.jpg

Then it was over to Otterville and stops at four cemeteries; three pioneer and one current.

The third cemetery I showed in an earlier post but I was alone on this trip and had a closer look at this place. The mural "quilt" has a diamond shape with a candle depicted in it's centre. In the actual grounds there are no remains of the church and only a few grave markers survive. When the cemetery was cleaned up a few years ago they found most of the grave sites and marked each one with a stone with a candle on it.

The fourth and current Otterville cemetery is just a couple of hundred yards south of the Black cemetery. I only stopped at the entrance as a funeral service was in progress further on into the cemetery.

    ride27 047.jpg

From Otterville I continued east to Hwy. 59 where I turned left and went north to Milldale to the pioneer cemetery there.

This area had a large population of Quakers; "Friends" to adherents of their religion. The next town north on 59 hwy. is Norwich and i will show pictures from their cemetery and plaques commemorating the Quaker heritage of that town in the next post.

Next village going east is Harley where the Burford Township Hall is and the Harley Cemetery. Is this where Milwaukee Iron goes for eternal rest?.:D..

From Harley I went to Burford where there is a large cemetery that dates from the late 1790's. There are several plaques with history of pioneer families and I have included one here.

Leaving Burford I went north on Maple Sideroad and stopped at a bridge for a pic. You get a twofer here as there is a road bridge and a pedestrian bridge. It was built for the Lions Club which has a park and Community Centre on the north side of the creek.

At Hwy. 2, I turned east again and went through Falkland and into Paris where I stopped at Fry Days for a quick lunch. My riding buddy Maurice and I stop here several times over the summer for food. Sharon; the lady that owns/runs this place has excellent food and good prices.

From Paris I rode over to and through Ayr, where I stopped for a nice colour shot of a couple of red shrubs and on through the Greenfield Heritage District for two more pics at a farm. The goat and geese seemed to get along okay and in the back paddock were examples of opposite extremes in the equine community. The large Clydedale at the back of the paddock doesn't look too big compared with the miniature horses close to the camera but in real life is many times larger.

Going north out of Drumbo took me past a pond full of geese and on into and through Innerkip.

After Innerkip I rode to Woodstock where this sign and momument greeted me.

Woodstock and Oxford County are known as the Dairy Capital of Canada and with good reason. I then took a little detour to Upper Thames Brewery to stock up on excellent craft beer before checking out the Canadian Pacific Railroad yard for activity. There was an Ontario Southland train bringing auto racks from Cami Automotive Ingersoll into an otherwise empty yard.

I went west from Woodstock towards Beachville. I passed St Mary's Catholic cemetery and rode on into Beachville where I stopped at their cemetery as well.

    ride27 118.jpg

    ride27 120.jpg

    ride27 121.jpg

From there I rode to and through Ingersoll and on to Putnam where I stopped at the United Church cemetery.

    ride27 124.jpg

    ride27 126.jpg

    ride27 127.jpg

    ride27 129.jpg

From Putnam I rode over to Harrietsville to catch a bit of colour on the main street; take a pic of this old Buick and then ride the 10 minutes to home for supper and a beer.

    ride27 133.jpg

    ride27 134.jpg

That concludes today's dead people; dead pets; last bits of tree colour; lunch; beer and train spotting ramble. Thanks for tagging along and hope you enjoyed it. If we get lucky weatherwise I may be able to add some to this thread before winter shuts it down.....Dave

Beautiful colors. Those red shrubs, trees, bushes almost look unnatural.

The pet graves look more expensive than many human graves I've seen!

    Well loved and long missed.

Thanks for tagging along on my rambles. How local are you to me. I am just north west of Aylmer. Maybe we could do some riding and I could show you some of the better roads in this area. A50 not insured this year. Needs some top end work over the winter.
