Oh! There's where they are. It was kinda fun to hang back sometimes & get pic's from
high above. Again, these were some great roads through here. :clap

After a few more hours of riding, we find our town for the night.
Morelos offered us a fine establishment to stay in! Notice the OSHA approved stairs! :rofl
    [IMG]

The TV did not work. Too bad, I so much wanted to watch Gilligans Island in Spanish! lol

Below. Looks like something I would have done! :eek1 It did work! I could charge my camera batteries. :D

We got settled in. Chuck was feeling pretty badly and called it a day. :(
    (meanwhile, I'm still posing)! :lol3

Burt & I scrounged up some food & walked around a bit. Snapping pics of the surrounding area.
It was nice to be off the bikes and just walking around. Burt speaks mexican and can joke
& laugh with the people we meet. Makes for a much more interesting/fun stay. :D

    Burt & I found a fixer upper! :lol3

    This was a driver! :rofl
    [IMG]

We were sooo lucky w/the weather. We could not have asked for more beautiful sky's!

Chuck was curious about the 'fruit' in the tree. I took a quick climb up........

............and Chuck enjoyed a pretty tasty pink grapefruit! :lol3

He doesn't look it here, but he was feeling pretty badly. :cry
He was more than a trooper the next day to press on
    towards Batopilas. :D
    more a bit later..........

The next day we continued Northbound trying to find a way to Batopilias.
I know Chuck was not feeling well at all. :puke1 Still, he soldiered on! :D

Where we've been ( Morelos in the distance below ).

Where we're headed ( above and below ).

    beep! beep! Donkeys! :)

Half the time out here u don't know whether to look at the scenery or ride.

We are heading down into this valley and then up and over that mountain! :)

Some more auga just for good measure! :D

Can't say enough about Burt's stamina & riding ability!
    Oh, did I mention...he's 77 years young!! :D:D
    He is a character!
Absolutely a true Adventure Rider! :lol3

    Awesome riding! :)

We had been riding for hours. It was nice to find a place to take
    a break & stretch.

Another Tienda in the middle of nowhere...........they had lot's of stuff.
Very nice people there. Thank gosh for
these little tiendas. We enjoyed some good coffee
& some kinda really good pound cake thingy Burt found.:D

This place really had lots of stuff. Very nice ladies.

    She's making Tortilla's. :)

Chuck was kinda remembering how to get out of this place. There is a driveway (that is really our road) on the
other side of the truck in the pic. When we saw it,
we were thinking, 'is this our road'? :rofl

One would not have thought to take the driveway/road on the
other side of that truck as a route out of this town. It just did not look like it went anywhere, :huh
even after traversing it for a while! There were several other roads
that looked like they went somewhere but were in fact dead ends! :rofl

I love this bike! :D I have to give credit to Suzuki. The DR650 has preformed flawlessly!
I have dropped, scrapped, beaten and abused that bike in so many ways.
It just keeps on keeping on!! :lol3 Very dependable machine. Did I say I love this bike!? lol

The couple of pics below are part of a very small village. The folks here have rarely seen
gringo's, let alone one's dressed up like Power Ranger's on motorcycles. :) The kids were
    chasing us & laughing. :D

When I saw this old sign I could smell Batopilas..........:huh..who the sign was/is for,
I have no idea. This place is extremely remote.

We meandered along for quite a few more hours 'til finally...............

    ..........Rio Batopilas! Yaaaaaaa!! :clap

Not too much longer and I'll be at hotel Juanita's taking a long hot shower! :D

These truly are 'The Roads Less Traveled'. :)

Just soaking up the last bit of this leg of the trip. :)

This is a really old Mission (Staveo) from back in the 1700's. I've been inside, back in '07,
(thats another entirely different story), :)
pretty neat place with lots of history.

The church is seven or so miles from Batopilias. :)
    Closer............

..............closer..... and finally, the bridge into 'the back way into Batopilias'. :clap:D
    [IMG]

I've eaten in this place before, food is very good.

We are tired, hot, hungry...........and loving life! :D (Well, not so much Chuck)! :puke1:puke2 :lol3

We stopped here at the edge of town & got a snack.
Chuck is now one sick camper! We didn't stay here
much longer once we realized that he was feeling so bad.

Juanita must have painted the place, used to be white. Looks good yellowish. :)

Hotel Juanita's is right around the corner from the restaurant. U actually drive through her
living room via the hallway and into a courtyard. :lol3

Hold on & look where u want to go! :)

    pass the living room.........

    Here's Chuck coming through. :)

    Pass the kitchen.............

Juanita is a great lady, she has a clean, well kept place for a good price. She will do ur laundry
& such. Makes u feel at home. If I could only get her to cook for us! :lol3

pass the laundry room and into the courtyard! :)

It's nice to have the bikes so close w/o having to strip off all the gear. U can see the river
from the fence there in the background. Very peaceful & Mexicoish.....:):1drink

    More later.........

Chuck was feeling very bad, went to his room & we did not see him 'til the next morning. :( :puke1
(we did keep an eye on him in case he got worse or needed anything)! :lol3

Just some random shots of Batopilas. The Rio Batopilas flows through the town and of
course the locals have many uses for it.

Burt & I roamed around looking for coffee. And shooting pic's.

    Peaceful, friendly place.

Needs a little fixing up here and there. :D

    Bacon

    Must be laundry day

Cool little town. I like Batopilas. :)
It is a kinda magical small town with very friendly people.

The next morning Chuck seems to have dispelled all of his demons! I know
that took a lot out of him and he still got us through all that! :clap:lol3 We head out for Creel.

We got gasolina & headed out for the long climb to the paved road & Creel.

Sure enough, Chuck did know of the back way into Batopilas. :clap:freaky It was really a fun,
(although sometimes arduous & challenging) ride. Thanks Chuck! :norton:lol3

Taking our time now & soaking up the last few hours of the
ride, none of us really want it to end. :cry

3 times now Burt has been my Mexico amigo, :D lots of fun to
ride with, knows the people, language and where all
the good beer places are! :freaky Thanks Burt! :1drink

Of course, we can't finish without the poser shots! lol :lol3

    Hang on, tight road! :eek1:rofl

Once again, these crappy pic's do no justice to this amazingly
    beautiful place.

    adios Batopilias..................

Finally got to the top! If u all ever get a chance to visit 'Le Barranca del Cobre', u will not be
disappointed. :D One last page coming to bore ya all with later.....:lol3.....

Ouch!! :) Have no idea how long that had been there!:D

Mixed feelings by all, arriving onto the pavement..... :D :( :D
    [IMG]

....Although, the paved roads here can be pretty damn exciting as well!! lol

Chuck seems to really be on the mend. :clap

We stayed the night in Creel. The next morning after a bit of adjustments of chains and
repacking, we headed off towards the U.S.

This pic below is where we all 3 split up after saying our goodbyes. Had a blast riding with
    you both! :freaky:clap

I spent the day roaming around, "Donde this, donde that......trying to get into New Mexico. :huh:lol3

It's interesting to say the least to travel here alone. I have been deep in the interior of
Mexico and Baja 4 or so times now in the last couple of years. It is a great place to ride,
enjoy the food, beauty and the people. A whole different culture. And, it's really just in our
    back yard. :D

Took all day, but finally got to the U.S., rode to El Paso, Tx & got a room there. I learned that
Chuck reached the U.S. about the same time I did only a lot closer to his truck. :lol3
I was gonna venture out on back roads & dirt roads through Texas.....but I had some
    serious chain issues. :huh:eek1

On the 3rd day I made it (just barely) to here. My chain & sprockets were toast. :eek1I was able to
get them to sell & put on a new chain at an ungodly price! :eek1

Finally, after another day and a half on the road, back home to my lovely wife & doggies!! :clap
Thanks for reading, it was fun for me to put this together. :D Rick

Good report Rick. It's nice to see the fun you had with two of the nicest people anyone could meet. Too bad the Cake Baker got so sick but it was good you and Burt checked on him a few times.
