Ive lived in NYC, Ive lived here in Florida.... Ive only visted family in California but theyve lived there for decades and I hear their stories. Id rather deal with winter for many months in a mountainous region of this country than go broke trying to own a home, register and inspect cars, taxes, insurance, regulations, etc living in Cali. I dont think any vehicle I own would even pass their inspection process.

Wish we could get some of CA's environmental protections. Personally I'd like to see a moratorium on development, natural resource acquisition and road expansion projects . One reason I'm wanting to leave FL is that I'm tired of watching corporations and voters consistently do the wrong thing. I love this state and it's really hard to see people callously destroy it.

Drove south on I-75 for the first time in a year past Miramar and the development of houses is beyond belief. I had no idea how bad it was there...:loco
All these houses need water, sewage and power. Not to mention all the extra vehicles on the roads..
You’re right Dave, it sad but money is the most important thing in our society so stopping over development will not be possible as too many palms get greased....

And it's from both sides. I have no idea what would change these people's hearts and minds man.

    Just out of curiosity...

During my time exploring Miami most of my attentions were focused on the city's urban core and hunting around for viable dual sport routes. The paved roads I saw were almost always straight and flat, but as I said my greatest concentration was on trying to find dirt and/or gravel; and like the dullness of the straight flat pavement the scenery in which that pavement was laid was disappointingly bland. Janes Scenic Route was the best of both road and landscape that I ever witnessed, but indeed oh-so-short a route, and clearly nothing that could have made me move to Miami.

Well, perhaps the SE region has some worthwhile paved riding routes--I'm guessing there's little to nothing, but someone please prove me wrong?

Any fun paved riding in the SE? It seemed like every paved road I saw was flat and straight.

    Fun Scenic? Yes

    Fun exhilarating? No

Travel north to Lake Placid and both can be had.

That is what my brother and I are doing a lot of the time. We have a route that is both a bit of dirt and paved to Sebring making for a 300 mile round trip...
We ride that mostly when the temperatures are back to less than the sun’s surface....

Rode my trials bike in the yard for 20 min last night. Does that count as a SE FL ride?

I agree with @Ginger Beard - the simple answer is 'No.'

'No' so much that this is why I took up cycling, both road and mountain, to get back some of the exhilaration and adrenaline. There is very little adrenaline to be had riding southeast Florida on a motorcycle at speeds under 140 MPH.

Wouldn't wish that on anyone, but you have a point.

What would that charlie foxtrot look like afterwards? I can see the snowflakes melting now, Orlandos population would quadruple overnight.

I hear you on not wishing that on anyone. With people panicked so easily these days the mayhem afterward would be biblical...
