So, did you get the ride on the 950 from your good looking dealer - what happened?

Damn, no my mate, no answers from them, I left messages over the last 2 working days last week on both their cell's and no answer back. I was just beginning to get pissed and dissapointed when at 1020pm Friday night, the mom sms's me to tell me that the 950 didnt arrive Friday and that theyre really dissapointed and that she would call me Saturday. Still no call, but I am wondering what the status quo is.

Must be busy perhaps, cos they are moving into new premises as we speak. Oh well. Dissapointed, and sort of nervous now (hate looking forward to something like this - as much as I do - and then having no ride :D. I have told myself that in all likelihood, I can get a ride in around a months time perhaps and I'd lke to think I will get surprised before then.

As I write this I get a resurgence of "ag pleeze Daddy wont you let me ride the K-T-M..." happening :rofl

Lord, dont I sort of wish. But I am not going to get into that again...... I had enough shit with KTM Cape Town with previous owners, and then I gave strong words to KTM SAfrica, and I am not even an owner...

thanks for the support tho bro

Either I am just not meant to ride a Katoomer, or the BMW motorbike spirit is messing things up... :rofl

Hi guys, a pic of my GS and some more if anyone's interested. Taken in the Cederberg Mountains on route from Ceres to Calvinia, awesome riding, awesome mountains. There were 21 bikes, mostly Africa Twins though.

Kevin, these photos are quite old arent they? In fact, you were my first saved bookmark way back early this year for the same website and pics. I was considering getting a 1200 back then, so it was right up top on mybookmarks.

Correct? Cool, and post more piccies.

Hey Kevin, did you ride with gps's in the Cederberg? If so, what mapping software did you use?

    Cheers

Hi Hein, no GPS is necessary, we managed without one, a good map is all you need. A friend of mine, Carl on a Triumph Tiger had a Garmin GPS that mapped the route, it was more interesting to see our route afterwards, over a beer than any need to know where we were at the time. Although with that said, one of the riders did fall and hurt himself bad and it was very useful to see where the nearest town was to go and get help.

just "traced" your route now from ceres to calvinia....
what distances did you have between petrol stops?
i believe that wuppertal is not a garantuee for juice.

I'm not Kevin the Candyman, but was also on that trip. It's not a long stretch if you're on an African Twin :) Some of the guys filled up at Wuppertal, but I did not and had no problem reaching Calvinia. Don't know about the 1200GS, but I know the 1150 goes further on a tank than my AT.

    McD,

May I offer a suggestion - take along a spare can of gas - the peace of mind is incredible knowing you are going to make it nonetheless, and strap it onto the back of your panniers. That way it will be safe from a tumble, or any stray rocks that you plan on kicking up as you wind your way through el remoteness

I was at the BMW Lifestyle centre in Midrand yesterday, strangely the last few Adventures they have left are in Bumble Bee colours, i.e. black with a black and yellow seat, not the blue and white final model they have in Europe, they still look great in those colours though, maybe I am biased as those are the colours of my 99 GS (without the yellow seat).
