How 'offroad' do you all intend to go?
I'm near Marion.
Stalin I think a to Melrose can be catered for everyone depending on what they wan't to do,myself I like to ride as much dirt as poss so would mostly look at this option but to be honest it's mainly tar and dirt roads to Melrose.
Count me in. I think we should all have our fingers crossed for "bucketing rain" - we sure need it!! Make sure you post the meeting venue here in Adelaide for the trip up. What about a bite to eat for lunch at the Stone Hut bakery - I hear they have the very best pies / pasties etc.
Add me to the list. She who must be obeyed , will need sweet talking, but Melrose sounds good.
fill out ya profile :)
- on the list
Just spent a few days in SA where I was introduced to one of your state treasures. Didnt know what the GF was on about when she said she'd get me a Kitchener bun.Bloody beautiful! So congrats to Kitchener buns at the Mannum bakery!
I'll be back on the Battle Bike in Sept based at Oakbank if anyone is up for a blast in that area.
Even better when they're filled with real cream. But sadly this is a rare find in these times of "profit Vs quality"
Maybe we should investigate the Stone Hut bakery, as someone previously mentioned, on the way to Melrose. I've eaten at this fine establishment when it was located at Wirrabara some time back.
Some hours after arriving I was eventually dragged screaming from the shop, covered in the remnants of a fine attempt at the World Pastry Consumption Record......and flung onto my bike (pushie at the time) for the ride back to Melrose (via all the hilly bits). Tough going......
Sounds like we've been summoned to test the bakeries of SA (now that Tasmania is completed! )
We'll have to get Brains to locate them for us from International Rescue
Cream Buns! - Rule No. 1 = always ask ".... do you use 'Fresh Cream or Bakers Cream?" if it's the latter - steer clear - plastic cream tastes like ...
But what would we know about bakeries? Hey!.......
Anyway, back to the subject at hand here.....
Isn't this a part of what Adventure Riding is all about? ....
and and and :kbasaand
Nothing like taking a break at the Meadows Bakery and having one of their Cornish Pasties with sauce along with a bun and a coffee.
MMMMMmmmmmMMM!! Life is GOOD!!
BTW - the wife and I are originally from Adelaide and would often end up at Meadows for lunch.
There are a few things I miss about SA but I usually get there a couple of times a year - mostly for work!

Should we have a practice drinking session before the 19th?
Such a long way to travel to get it wrong
The Willunga bakery uses fresh cream in their buns .
And my brother was rether taken with the cream buns in the Gumeracha cafe , er, the ones on the serving wench that is.
But then he was out from jock land and used to milky white flesh.
And twotread , if you need a break at Meadows you just aint going to cut it as an all action he man adventere rider like the rest of us.
You are a smooth talker MasterB.
Unfortunately I've gotta fly to work for a couple of weeks on Tuesday Morning so I don't think I'll be able to "pre-run the course."
This Sunday night would probably be the only opportunity for me, but probably not ideal for the rest of you, I guess.
So I'll just have to take it on good faith that you guys are all accomplished drinkers and top blokes! (and see this proven at Melrose )
Incidentally, I live in roughly the same area as some of you lot.
Blackforest for me. And HumanOne isn't too far away as well. There seems to be a bit of a concentration of AdvRiders on this side of town for some reason.
Hi Dogsbody & interested others,

Have just returned home from another week stint off working at the start of the Flinders.
Its pissing down up there and all the creeks/rivers are flowing nicely,by the time we head up there next month it should be green and lush.
Theres a little asian resturant in the Nth East corner of the market it used to be called Malaca (not the swearword - Straits of Malaca) Corner (I think its changed its name).
The Pi Pia is an entre, basically its spring onion, ground beef, sprouts, chili, coriander, lemon flavoured with a special sweet sauce, wrapped in a light dough like wrap, it is steamed and cut into portions. Nice mix of hot, sweet, sour and yum.
