When I was a kid playing football with my friends in the street when we had a play that worked really well we'd go back to the huddle and call "Same thing but different". The Foothill Follies was so much fun we're going to do it again. Same thing but different.

Look here for the Foothill Follies link. Same rules apply.

The campground does not take reservations, it is first-come, first-served. There should be plenty of places if we share sites -- they allow up to 8 per site -- but we can't guarantee there will be room. It is your responsiblity to secure a place to camp by, for example, teaming up with someone who can arrive early.

There will be stove with a kettle of hot water with coffee and hot chocolate to share. We'll have a fire in the evenings if it's allowed. There may be some other things. We'll let you know as the dates get closer.

Right now I'm planning on securing campsite #13 early on Friday Sept 21 as ADVrider central gathering spot. I'll let you know if that changes.

    Commentary (thank's Kurt)
This is a very nice but little-used campground, so there should be plenty of room, especially if Advriders get there early and take sites that can then be shared with others. The bathrooms and showers are top notch. Bring quarters for the showers.

This area is surrounded by some of the best foothill canyon-carving roads to be found anywhere -- legendary roads like Ram's Horn Grade, Defender Grade, Jesus Maria, Hwy 26, Winton, Hale, Quartz Mountain (dirt) Summit Level (dirt), Blue Mountain (dirt), Ponderosa (dirt), Sheep Ranch, Mountain Ranch...to name a few.

The campground is at 2,400 feet elevation, hopefully the worst of the summer heat should be over by late September. Averages are in the mid 80s in the day and the low 50s at night.

    Update:
I tried to contact the ranger this week but he wasn't in his office. I did get a chance to talk to the secretary so they know we are coming. There are 23 sites at the camp ground and I count 40 people on the 'IN' list so we'll have to share some sites. The secretary told me that there is a maximum of 8 people per site but as far as she knew we could have as many bikes and tents as we could fit. There won't be any camp hosts there so you'll have to drop the money off at the entrance.
Just to make it clear, I'm not collecting money for the sites. It's up to you to make sure the campsite you're in is paid for.
Since there won't be any camp hosts there won't be any fire wood for sale at the campsite. I'm bringing some wood for the community fire but Veronica doesn't think it's enough. :dunno So if some of you that are trucking your bike in want to bring a bundle of wood to donate to the community fire it would appreciated.
The weather looks good and I know there's going to be a bunch of fun people there. What more could you want?
    Did somebody say PIE???!!!! :lol3

:wave True my friend. But it looks like I'm going to be down for a while.

On the way home I blew the counter balance bearing. In the process I also bore a hole in the case from the counter balance shaft. I'm kind of screwed until we can figure out what to do. The Big Guy may get a free bike if he wants to wrench.

Hopefully I'll be back on the road soon. I don't do well sitting at home when the weather is right. But after Colorado this time, I guess I'm willing to try anything once :1drink

I'd be happy to put some lowering links on my KLR for you. I hurt my hip badly enought this weekend to make me think that riding is not necessarily in my best interest right now.
This isn't a joke offer, either. It's yours for the using if you wish.

Absolutely, Frau Inspektor Robin! And afterwards we'll seriously have to put our heads together about the new names for the two of us. Can't wait.

    Thanks for organizing, Mike.

I love that place! Picture of my tent pitched beside the lake below, from a previous Norcal BMW trip:
