    Hi there,

I'm going to be in the SF area for a couple of days in the early part of the week. I've already PMed Ricky, who I hope to meet up with - anyone else fancy the idea of meeting up for a ride/show me the area?

Don't like riding or staying in cities, so I'll probably find myself somewhere to stay on the outskirts, but I feel that the obligatory photo-op with the Golden Gate/ Alcatraz etc is pretty well inescapable (pun intended :D)... - where else, though???

    Mike

shall we use this as an excuse for a 1pm lunch at Alice's on Tuesday?

Alices is a burger dive up on the ridge of the peninsula, its about an hour or less from most anywhere in the bay area... Junction of state highways 35 and 84.

You Bay Area wankers need to show him the following and not necessarily in this order:
-Hwy 1 south of Ft Ross to SF
    -Pescadero Road
    -The Great Hwy
    -Alba Road, Bonny Doon Road
    -Skyline, Summit
    -Eureka Canyon Road
    -Highland Way
    -Nacimiento Ferguson
    -Hwy 25
    -Hwy 9
    -Hwy 84
    -Grizzly Peak(the Wall)
-Mt Tam and then down to Stinson Beach
    -Bear Creek Road
    -Empire Grade
    -Ice Cream Grade
-Hwy 1 South to Morro Bay...Have I covered enough?

    Places to eat:
    Innya Lake, San Bruno-Burmese (cheap)
Andale Taqueria, Los Gatos location only-Excellent Mexican
Duarte's-Pescadero Try the Artichoke and pepper soup blend-and the PIE!
Peninsula Creamery- Palo Alto good greasy American diner food
    Jing Jing-Palo Alto-Decent cheap Chinese
Zacharry's Pizza in Oakland and Berkely-Best Deep dish on the West Coast
    Higashi West-Palo Alto-Expensive sushi
Phil’s Fish Market in Moss Landing
The Mexican place above the Harbor Master's Office in Santa Cruz
Flints BBQ in Oakland-If it's still there
Jackson Fillmore- Best Italian in SF
North Beach Pizza- an SF scene
Vivis Falafel in Cupertino-Best Falafel in the South Bay Area
Amelias Mexican /Salvadoran in Redwood City- Cheap and Tasty
Gizdich Farms - Watsonville or something to that effect. Best Pie in the state.
There’s a great oyster place in Olema just South of Point Reyes Station

I'm sure I've left our a hundred or so great eateries.

    For fast foods I'd suggest:
Any Mexican Place where Mexican are eating- same goes for Chinese
In N Out Burger-Anywhere in California -ask for it "animal style"
Tommy's in the LA Area-Double chili cheese burgers
and Rubios Fish Taco's Closer to San Diego

Damn, I'm getting hungry and homesick

    Cheers,
    Jorge

yeah, thats about 2 weeks worth of riding :rofl

thats Phil's Fish Market. And, yeah, awesome seafood. Also quite good in Moss Landing, for breakfast and lunch, is the little Moss Landing Cafe right on highway 1 at the south end of 'town'. Had a great cajun halibut sandwich there for lunch yesterday.

The Mexican place you're referring to is Rosa's, and it sucks now. The family that ran it sold out, and the new owners totally blow. Rosa's used to have killer fish tacos, awesome rotisserie chicken, and all sorts of cool caribbean/yucatan/etc style specials... Awesome salsa bar with all sorts of unusual intense salsa... Only complaints (from some folks) were that many of the plates just had TOO many intense flavors on them, and that sometimes things weren't 100% consistent. Now its like just plain bad.

hey. *IF* I can make Tuesday at Alices, I *could* lead you over a bunch of those roads... my route back to Santa Cruz from Alices is down 84, over Pescadero Rd to Cloverdale to Gazos Creek to 1 south, then up Bonny Doon and down Felton Empire... I could modify that and take Alba down to Ben Lomond, then point you back up 9 to return to the pit-err-bay area...

catch-22... I was planning on trying to bail from work a bit early that day and meet a friend who's up from San Diego just for the day... his plane back to sandy eggo leaves at like 7:30, so we'll barely have time for a quick beer, but still...
